Stay Away
CBonn57on 15/11/2017 19:55Usually we enjoy our Marriott stay but not this trip. No continental breakfast as changing vendors. You think they could have provided muffins or fruit!! Coffee was available but second morning no cups!!! Eventually find one . Half and half to use was virtually empty with no other in sight.Gym lacked wipes to clean equipment and floor mats for exercises. Truck traffic is wicked if your room located near distribution road .
Windows have black mold and curtain rod was broke and just lying on sill. Front desk staff eating MacDonald ‘s in lobby and bag still there hours later. Front desk were nice but not professional.Smoking allowed by front door as you entered!! Housekeeping staff smoking near side door when they could have been dusting!!! We were glad to leave!!!
Nice hotel - lousy "free" breaksfast
kabala0428on 28/10/2017 01:38This is going to be a very short and simple review.
Nice hotel, The A/C in the room sounded like a 747. I had to shut it off in order to get some sleep.
Likewise make sure you save $20 bucks to eat breakfast next door at Cracker Barrel. The breakfast buffet is the worst I have ever experienced at an Marriott branch hotel.
They had no eggs, orange or apple juice, pastries, fruit, coffee tasted like brown water, waffle maker was broken. Although they did have one yogurt, not one type of yogurt I mean one yogurt.
When I ask the front desk clerk if they were going to restock the breakfast bar, he said that's all they had. Really and for this I paid $150 dollars a night?
I wrote the GM Sarh Giberson (Sarah.giberson@marriott.com) and got no reply.
Save your money there are other hotels for much less that give you much more.
And yes I am a Platinum Marriott Member with over 100 stays at Marriott's this year alone. And this was the worst PERIOD.
Second chance no better than the first
Joseph Hon 08/10/2017 13:34I am a Marriott gold member and former Marriott employee and this is the second time I’ve stayed at this Fairfield Inn, and it will be my last. If you are used to Marriotts quality and friendly staff you will not find it here. As I left this morning only one very nice housekeeping staff even said good morning. The front desk staff sitting in there chairs could not be bothered to get up and greet a guest. They could not even bother to tell me the elevator was broken. This was the same affective behavior I received on our last visit, but we decided to give them another chance. I am now hoping a call to Marriott will wake up the management team about the issues at this property.
New Management Missing Opportunity for Attention to Detail & Quality
Byron Hon 27/09/2017 18:26Think this Fairfield in decline again. Have stayed in this facility 3 or 4 times per year for 20 years and have seen rise & fall, change of ownership, multiple managers and two renovations. Last weekend, at check in desk agent checked my wife into Room 306 even after mentioning that the AC was loud/noisy. It cycles constantly and noise is real. While at the desk, a second traveler reported a non-working toilet; and a third traveler reported that the assigned room had not been cleaned. There was no fresh fruit either Saturday or Sunday morning on the breakfast bar. There was a bowl and spoon with some liquid substance left in the stairwell the entire stay. Security may be an issue also, as my wife returned to the room to find the door left open on the security bar. When talking to the desk agent, they denied any knowledge of the situation and said my wife must have left the door open. This is a very central location for our visits to Chambersburg and the surrounding area. Hope this trend does not continue. May need Corporate attention and a site visit. Have noticed the need for desk agent training - greeting, courtesy, knowledge of Marriott member standing, etc during lat two visits. T-shirt uniforms may need to be upgraded. Still no Life Cycle bicycle in Fitness Center after a number of years and repeated request to management to add one.
Good Lodging
Keydet72on 15/09/2017 17:29I am a long time Marriott client, first time Fairfield Inn visitor. After an arduous drive was nice to fine the FI directly abeam very busy I 81. Front desk check in was prompt and professional. We had a problem with the air conditioner and Front Desk fixed it by assigning a new room immediately.
The room was quite clean, hallways too. I did not expect luxurious accouterments; what FI has is fine for a short stay.
The location is great; abeam a few plain restaurants; far enough I 81 traffic noise is not a factor. Breakfast was simple, the staff member managing the breakfast room a diligent and courteous worker.
Marriott has been in the business a few fortnights; why unit air conditioners have to be such decibel machines I do not understand. A stay later in the week at another hotel had Amana machines of similar size that were quiet as a cat. Oh well, engineering, please work on it.
Chambersburg Fairfield is staffed by fine people who care for the client. I'd stay here again.
