We recently stayed for a parents weekend at Syracuse University, about a 25 minute drive from this location. First, the staff here is really good - friendly, helpful, and genuine in their concern for you to have a good stay. They inquired as to why we were visiting the area, asked if we wanted a free cookie, and offered us breakfast even though the breakfast area was not yet open (we left for a very early departure flight - airport is only about 15 minute drive).
The problems here rest solely with aging design and decor, which I think is on the margin of not meeting the basis Marriott standards.
The furniture has seen better days, and the linens/towels have a rough, worn feel and appearance (one washcloth we had was basically transparent). Carpeting needs a thorough cleaning. Sheer curtains need to be replaced - current ones are too thin/transparent. Bed itself was comfortable but somewhat worn. Breakfast area was small, but there were a lot of offerings in a small space, and the staff really keeps it clean and tidy. One aspect was we could smell lingering cigarette odor - not enough to make a fuss about as for us, but if someone was highly allergic, it would have been a problem.
Basically, if you get a good rate for this property, you will have a satisfactory stay. But if the rooms are not updated soon, with normal wear and tear, in a year or so it will not be up to the standard you expect for a Marriott property - sorry to say, because the staff there is so great, but have to be candid here.

The room was clean and the staff were kind and helpful. We just spent one night.
Enjoyed the pool at the end of the day with my 10-year old, but the pool looked like it was pretty old and could use a face-lift. Small but fun and functional and clean though.
Staff were very accommodating and coffee was delicious.

We stopped here overnight on our way to Cooperstown. At the time of our stay the hotel had just undergone a renovation of rooms or at least ours was. This being said the staff had to bring a chair into the room because it had not been done yet. Having a newly refurbished room meant everything was in working order and clean. The staff was outstanding in helping make our staff comfortable. The hot tub was in good working order and a welcomed relief.

We stayed at this Fairfield numerous times this summer visiting son who was playing baseball in the area. Each time the stay was consistently great. Staff was kind and helpful, hotel was kept very clean, beds were comfortable, fridge in room, included breakfast and you get passes for really nice local health club. Would highly recommend to others!

Not bad. Room was clean - our room did have a stale smoke smell. Pool was nice and the kids loved it. Walked over next door to Applebees- which we get a discount at if we stayed at the hotel. That was nice. Hotel had a free breakfast that had tons of choices. Hotel employees were super nice as well.
