What People are saying

Fine for a night.

Kevin L on 08/11/2017 00:06

Oh I remember, the hotel without a bedside lamp. It's something you take for granted everywhere you go but when it's not there what do you do? It's a good job I carry a torch in my coat pocket and I made good use of it. I did have a bedside table to put my glasses and my torch on. This was my only gripe, the lack of bedside lamp. The hotel was not anything fancy in any shape but it was rough and ready. The bed was clean but the shower was grubby. The breakfast was freshly cooked and hot so what more can I say. The Falcon Hotel was fine for a night and it was challenging without a bedside light but I got over it.

Central, easy access to Peterborough

Although very 'tired' and in need of renovation in the rooms, the friendliness of owners and staff was fabulous. One of the best breakfasts I've had in a hotel and nothing too much trouble. My room had a washbasin in the bedroom with a mirror so high above it that a 6 foot person would struggle to use it. The kettle had to be placed in the floor as the flex would not reach, and the sockets were right at the bottom of the wall where the skirting board should have been. The shower room .... this was challenging lol. Had to enter sideways to use the loo and shower, and exit in the same way. There is no space to dry off, had to do this in the bedroom. The bed was extremely comfortable. Despite these niggles, I would stay again, just for the breakfast.

Overnight stay to visit relatives.

We stayed overnight Friday to Saturday to visit family. Spent the day with family and checked in about 7pm. From our check in right through to our departure we were made to feel welcome and at home.
All staff were friendly and helpful throughout.
Our double room was spacious with traditional solid wood furniture which we loved and our bed gave us a good nights sleep.
We had 2 pillows each with extra pillows and blanket in the wardrobe.
There were tea and coffee facilities in the room with ample electrical points for our needs including extension leads.
There was ample storage space for our clothes and accessories and plenty of coat hangers in the wardrobe. There was also a hairdryer and an iron and board available on request.
The bathroom was very spacious and smelt lovely due to a reed diffuser in the room. There was a full sized bath with an over head shower and an ample supply of hot water. As we only had one set of towels we asked for another and these were provided promptly.
The accommodation was very clean and fresh throughout with everything we needed.
Once unpacked we went down to the bar where we were made to feel welcome by the staff, Mandy and Lisa as well as the customers there.
There was a good variety of drinks at reasonable prices and we enjoyed a lovely evening in a traditional pub atmosphere, which we prefer to the modern 'plastic palace' type establishments.
The breakfast times were ideal as allowed you a lay in being a weekend and on entering the dining room we were warmly welcomed by Chris, the owner.
He offered us the full English breakfast and also invited us to help ourselves to tea, coffee, juice, cereals etc.
When the breakfast arrived there were 2 of everything (eggs, bacon and sausages) with beans and tomatoes accompanied by 2 slices of toast and butter. There were also jams and marmalade on the table for those who wanted it.
The breakfast was very well cooked and presented by Chris.
Our only regret was that we were not there for the for the much acclaimed Sunday roast, but have already booked to return this weekend and have booked a table for Sunday lunch.
We would not hesitate to recommend this hotel and had no qualms in booking a return visit.
