I would recommend anyone to visit the Kirchleitn couples or families. Great facilities, nice clean rustic apartments and great food. Ski slopes are at the walking distance from the Apartment. The place is very child friendly offering various facilities and entertainment for kids

We have stayed for 10 days in Kirchleitn Dorf Kleinwild. We had a very nice apartment, cleaned once a week. The animation program for children was great. The staff was very kind and helpful. The breakfast and diner buffet was very comprehensive, even for children. They had some farm animals which our kids where fond of.

We found Kirchleitn by accident and we didn't regret for a second! It's a hotel organised as a small alpine village. The main cable-car and ski school are 3 minutes walk from the hotel. The apartments are nicely decorated and maintained. Very clean and very practical. The staff was exemplary and very helpful. Kids absolutely loved every minute of our stay. Furthermore, the ski school at the site is the best organised school we have ever encountered. All instructors were super helpful and polite. Our kids didn't stop talking about all the advices they got and they really had fun time learning. Everyone made a great effort to make them happy but to teach them too.
The village of St. Oswald is very peaceful and just perfect for a relaxing family vacation! We will definitely be back!

I have stayed for 7 days in this location in rustic villa no.7 apartment 1.
The location is very nice and the distance to ski school is 5 minutes maximum.
Also the cable up to Brunnach is very close.
The apartments are very rustic with stove inside. You can make the fire just for fun and atmosphere.
Pro:
Rustic experience;
Clean;
Great place and facilities for kids;
Close to main important points – cable and ski school.
Cons:
They clean the rooms once per week, at least this was my situation;
They have limited options for eating at the restaurant, but you can eat very good at Sportalm and Berghof.
They have a very good local bier - Hirter!

ADORABLE holiday village of historic farm houses that have been renovated into well-laid out, modern family apartments. The décor is a fashionable, modern take on the traditional Austrian "Landhaus" style.
My 3.5 year old had a great time playing with new friends on the playground and riding Bobby cars down the gently sloping hills surrounding the main "square," while my 1.5 year old loved the water play area and swing. Both loved the goat pen, and even though our apartment was next to their pen, we didn't hear them in the morning.
We were on half board, and while breakfast and dinner were hearty, I was not overly impressed (though after asking for two days for lactose-free milk at breakfast, our waitress kindly had it waiting for us on our table the third day). The kids' food corner was also a little heavy on the hot dog/French fry/frozen veg front.
My favorite meal was the evening when local farmers came to cook regional specialties such as Kärntner Kasnudeln, Schweinsbraten, and dumplings with sauerkraut. I have a sweet tooth, but I was never tempted by dessert, which was usually something very traditional and non-chocolate.
The owner was incredibly nice, and we talked with him twice at length. He explained that while the summer kids' supervised care/activities starts at age three (we never used it for our older child), in winter the under-threes can be put in child care, while older children can attend a day-long ski school.
My biggest issue with the otherwise lovely village was the lack of properly locking gates. The gate to the swimming pond was faulty, as was the gate from the top of the stairs from the dining room to the pond. My 18 month old was able to push both open. The gates by the water play ground were likewise easy enough for him to open, and the closure on all three entrances to the water playground were poorly installed. My husband also thinks that the playground needs work- the flaking paint gave my daughter numerous splinters.
I would also like to add that while the separate play area in the dining room was helpful (& the toys/mats were of excellent quality), there could have been a child care staff member present. A shoe shelf or cubby system would have also been nice; there were children's shoes strewn all in a messy heap by the entrance to the play area.
In summer, Kirchleitn is a great starting point for day trips to Millstätter Lake/Feld am See, the falcon show/monkey experience at Burg Landskron near Villach, and short family hikes in the nearby mountains.
I hope we get a chance to go back next year when the kids are 2 and 4! I might also add that this village had a lot of families with twins (under 2 years) and families with three children visiting.
