Spent a night in this renovated hotel located just across the train station in the beautiful town of middelburg. The room was tiny with only the basic amenities. The restaurant seems to be quite popular and busy and we had a delicious mixed grill at a reasonable price. The staff were friendly and pleasant. I would recommend the restaurant, can’t say that about the rooms!

We had steak and ordered it medium rare, it came somewhat past medium and was tough. It came with a single fingerling potato on the side and very small vegetable. For the price they should have been a little more generous with the sides.

Nice lunch at bar bistro duco, since i cannot acces the bar bistro on tripadvisor i am entering it under fletcher hotel who ownes this bar bistro.
I love the salads and the hamburger, both are very good.

Based on the impressive renovation carried out, we decided to book this hotel to spend our easter weekend with our five month old baby.
Arriving, as frequent travelers, we were surprised we had to pay up front. The hotel facilities and the rooms are truly renovated, featured by a modern french style. Even though advertised as 4**** hotel, it lacked a mini bar and even glasses in the bathroom.
Furthermore, we got extremely disappointed when we entered the room and there was a very strong sewage smell coming out of the bathroom, which we reported to the front desk and was supposedly resolved, but in fact remained there all night.
In addition to the strong smell, we couldn't sleep due to a very disturbing green emergency exit light placed on the ceiling right above the bed.
The day after we complained once more at the front desk about the unsolved sewage smell and the bad night we had. They got us another room, without emergency lights, but rather small to fit a baby bed and luggage.
Worst of all this, they hided behind the idea that the lights were responsibility of the fire department and not of them. Coming from the hotel business my own, they should have put these rooms out of order, as they openly showed we were not the first ones to complain about the disturbing light. You want guests to be happy and to return, right? At this moment the paying up front gave us a sour taste in our mouth.
The morning of the complaint they told us they'd discuss it with the manager if a compensation would be possible. We ended up with a "no" the next morning upon check out but with the kind request to pay a bill of the two drinks we had the first night of our stay. This is no service and shows that they don't have any understanding of what hospitality means.
Based on this bad experience, this was our last stay in a Fletcher hotel.
