For the second year we were housed by tour organizers at this hotel, partly due to its proximity to the Thames Clipper, which was our means of transportation to the O2. Though the hotel is a bit tired physically we again loved it because of its comfortable spacious room, glorious bedding, large practical bathroom. .. but what stood out last year and this was the service. The staff were available - pronto - 24/7. Nothing was too much for them. They were extraordinary. This year we utilized the laundry service. Pricey as it is everywhere, but our modest wardrobe could hardly cope with the elegant treatment it received. We would gladly return next year to this welcoming comfortable venue.

I totally understand why Four Seasons deflagged this hotel. Nothing wrong with the physical infrastructure of hotel, but to be a Five Star hotel you can’t totally whiff on the service side.
A few examples, four unanswered calls to concierge desk and finally i called front desk directly. I asked if I could rent a vehicle at Canary Wharf and the answer was “ i don’t know”, but I was encouraged when they said they would call me back with info. Ten minutes later I get a call back saying that “ No I can’t rent a vehicle” on Canary Wharf, but no follow up on where it might be possible to rent a vehicle.
Example 2. Called nonexistent concierge desk and again after no answer, I called front desk to ask about restaurants. Since it was a Sunday night, I suspected that not many restaurants would be open. So we called to get an idea of where we might be able to eat, and we were told the hotel restaurant was open. I thanked person and asked about what other choices and the answer was “i don’t know.”
Example 3. Asked front desk where closest ATM machine might be and the answer “probably somewhere in the mall”.
To be a five star hotel, you need above average service and attention to detail and this hotel fails miserably on the service front.

We had another great stay here! The service is always excellent, the rooms are quiet and have everything you would need, and the bar is a great place to get drinks/hangout. I used the Virgin Active gym (which is complimentary for guests) most days we were there and having previously lived in London can say that this is one of the best facilities on offer. We will keep coming back!

In Canary Wharf, this is probably the best hotel. The Marriott building is more modern but there is no swimming pool there. If you like to take a swim in the morning or after work, this is your only choice in the area.
The service is great. Staff is very friendly.
It's no longer part of Four Seasons. So there is not much reward for being a loyal customers. For example, I can always get upgrade and nice breakfast for free at Marriott. So value-wise it's not the best

We were booked in for the Teaching Awards and decided to stay the day before too. Lovely hotel. Staff couldn’t do enough for us and as we were upgraded and on 8th floor our suite was fab with amazing views. Definitely stay again.
