Great little hotel hidden away in a small lane but once found easy remembered . Easy and friendly check in . Just an overnight stay on a long weekend . Shared a room with two single beds , plenty of room and well equipped although the bed was a little hard but bearable , plenty of hot water even during peak times .
Very easy walk to China town and public transport and plenty of restaurants near by .
Opted for the breakfast which was well worth while .
I would certainly recommend the Fraser Place to friends and stay here again .

Ok let me tell you the good points.
The Shower was great as was the soaps etc. The staff on reception were also friendly and attentive.
Ok the more useful stuff. I booked the room through a third party (Trivago) and managed to snag a room at 40% off now costing me $150. So that sets the level. If that had been the full rack rate I would have been very happy.
On arrival the staff were friendly but in the short time I was there they managed to hand my credit card and driving licence to someone else. They also stressed a lot that if I was bring any guests up to my room I needed to sign them in.....which wither says something about me or the apartments.
I stayed in room 1303. One floor from the top (I think) and with what appeared to be only another three rooms on that floor. My room was right next to the lift shaft.
The room had a funky smell a mixture of cleaning fluid and cigarette smoke? Amenities wish there was a small TV, iron, kettle etc etc but no milk or tea and coffee.
The bed was comfortable but again had a rather unusual smell. Not a clean smell just unusual? The TV had poor resolution and after a time I gave up. That's when the noise of the lift shaft and weights kicked in. Thankfully it was constant up until about 11 when I finally drifted off.
I was woken up at 1am and then again at 3am by other guests laughing and shouting as they came out of the lifts on my floor and also bizarrely at 4am with the wake up service call. Not a great nights sleep.
I woke up tired and feeling a little scummy. The shower thankfully was excellent, but the highlight for me was using a very cheap iron on my work shirt which someone had previously melted some plastic on (red) that melted onto my shirt.
The room overall looked tired and unloved although it appeared clean.

Great location ,gret room gret staff,would defenitly return here again ,its very close to trams ,china town ,the ataff were so happy and would do anything for us ,the breakfast was gret value for money ,we expected continental but you could have a full breakie

There are very few things I would change from the service given by the staff and the room was very comfortable
please get the coffee shop to stay open longer and add more deserts to the cake stalls

I was in a hurry and had booked the hotel through a third party site while waiting for my transit flight to Melbourne.
When I got on board the 10 hour flight, I soon realised I had booked the wrong day and by the time of arrival at Melbourne my wrongly booked stay had already past and I did not have a booking on arrival.
I called the hotel as soon as I arrived to explain the situation and to ask whether it might be possible to change the dates or get a refund as there had been a mistake.
The man receiving the call asked whether I had booked through the hotel website and after I explained that I booked through a third party he told me to contact the third party as it was not booked through them in quite a rud way.
I then called the third party and explained the situation. I was quite surprised that they were very professional in dealing with the whole issue. They explained that it would actually depend on the hotel's decision and they would email the hotel to ask whether they could refund the payment.
The third party service provider thereafter promptly followed up with another email to explain that they were unable to hear back from the approver at the hotel but would contact me as soon as they do so.
I eventually heard through the third party that the hotel refused the cancellation and will be charging the hotel fee as per the 'booking policy'.
Whilst I acknowledge it was my fault I had booked the wrong date in the first place, I am quite upset as to how the hotel has treated this issue.
I had suggested showing my flight details to explain it was a mistake as I had not even arrived the country on the date of the (wrong) booking, but perhaps this is not something that the hotel would take into account.
Overall a very upsetting experience...
