It was the only thing available... go further away.

Looks good, breakfast was nice, quiet family room. So that's the ok bit. I arrived and saw the sink and bath had black bits all over it and several dead insects and worse the toilet still had unflushed loo roll in it. Clearly not cleaned. So I asked for it to be sorted while I met colleagues for dinner. Came back and the bath was clean but not the sink. That's what this place is...sadly not paying attention to detail or maintenance, light bulbs blown, lamps not working, wi-fi dying after every 20 minutes but apparently its my laptop's fault despite working everywhere in the world bar here.
The owners need to sit down and do a list and fix things, including the smelly drains. Then I'd say this is 7 and acceptable, right now its a 5.
Restaurant

Never normally one to complain, however the standard of service received was incredibly disappointing. When there is only 6 people eating in a huge (empty) restaurant, you don't expect to have to wait half an hour between courses, for basic items (bread) to be unavailable and for a distinct lack of general customer service (I.e checking on your SIX customers). I can see why the restaurant was empty even on a Saturday night, and certainly won't be returning. Credit to the chefs however, the food was lovely, it's just a shame about the rest of the experience.

Terrible, 1st room given smelt of poo and was dirty, so upgraded, no smell of poo but very dirty, stains, mould, plug not working in bath, just see the pictures, generator going off and on all night so no sleep, no food offered in the evening, no staff working, Breakfast terrible never a 4* setting see picture...health risk...need a very deep clean and sorting out.
Evening dinner

We ate here years ago when the original M et Mme Partridge owned the business and decided to visit again. What puzzled us is why the Hotel's dinner menu is Spanish when the name is still French. The food was lovely but limited choice. Only two tables occupied which probably says it all for Saturday night. .
Disappointing - Modern Day Fawlty Towers
Ami G on 31/08/2017 19:58
If you want to stay in a modern day Fawlty Towers, where one poor person runs from reception to bar to restaurant to kitchen, then this is for you. (Although the lady was helpful, and clearly works very hard, there's only so much one person can do).
A very disappointing 2 night stay...bathroom floors were dirty and the plug holes smelt disgustingly eggy. On the second evening we were joined by 10-15 wasps outside our room (some alive, some dead) which were just left and a couple inside our room (which we dealt with). Not ideal with 2 young children!
The 'fine' dining restaurant has a limited menu. We ate out on the second night due to the selection available, and the 12.5% service charge which is automatically added to your bill - even though the service is painfully slow because the poor lady has a hundred other jobs to do. Breakfast is served fairly late by ordinary standards and is a fairly sub-standard event (a choice of 2 cereals, and very limited vegetarian options).
If you have any complaints you're asked to put them in writing as there's only the one lady available to speak to directly, and clearly management have drawn the line at asking her to deal with complaints as well. However, once you've left and paid your bill they have minimal interest in your feedback.
All in all, a very disappointing stay. We would never return.
