Huge Clean Room, restaurant needs imorovmetn

We stayed for one night and booked a double room for 2 adults and 2 children, paying a very reasonable rate of £104. The rooms are huge, beds are comfortable and clean and they provide complimentary water which is a nice touch.
The bathroom was clean and up to standard, the heating worked perfectly.
My only disappointment was with the restaurant; we called in for a mid afternoon snack, but after ordering were advised that the kitchen had run out of sun-dried tomato for the panini, we said it didn’t matter but we are disappointed when we realised that we’d just been given a
Mozzarella Panini and the chef had left off the other toppings. The portion sizes of the fries where practically non-existent. The coffee wasn’t pleasant and the waiter must’ve spilled most of it into the saucer!
At breakfast (additional cost to the room), £10 for adults and £5 for children, we were advised we could just turn up at the restaurant for this. Upon arrival, the waiter asked for the ages of my children, which I thought odd as I’d provided this to the hotel and had a room appropriate for 2/2children, I advised that my eldest was 15, to which he looked disbelieving, and stated she was an adult. I said that no, she was a child and this has been reflected under the hotel room pricing. He shrugged his shoulders and mumbled about staff policy. I paid the extra cost, despite knowing my daughter would only likely eat a couple of sausages and sat down.
The breakfast itself was very greasy- everything was cooked in oil and the sausage was literally dripping in it. The pancakes were nice, but there were no croissants as an alternative. The coffee machine spilled over as the cups are a little small and the cappuccino from the machine was awful.
The restaurant several years ago was beautiful so I’m not sure what’s happened there but it’s a shame that it lets the hotel down.
Getting into the hotel with roadworks is a bit difficult, but cleary not the fault of the hotel.
Don’t bother with the restaurant

Five rooms were booked so we could attend a family funeral. The hotel itself is very good with unusually large rooms. Our’s had two double beds! The restaurant, however, was a huge disappointment. A table for 10 was booked for 8.00pm. Unfortunately, one of the party, who is disabled, was not well enough to attend. It took a long time to place the order as we had find one of the few members of staff. We then waited and waited and only after going to enquire about our order, did the food finally appear at 9.15pm. When the food was delivered, the wife of the missing guest ordered food for her husband for her to take to the room at the end of the meal. I ordered duck, only because they had run out of lamb shank. The skin on the duck was not crisp so was not eaten. There was only a slight hint of the orange sauce and the boiled new potatoes were not boiled enough and were hard in the middle. I did not complain at the time as it took so long for the food to arrive, I didn’t want to wait any longer. Things got worse as we discovered the order for the missing guest had not been passed on so there was another wait. When the food did arrive, there was no apology not even a sorry. Avoid this restaurant. McDonalds across the road would have been better. At least they know the meaning of service!
Great Value

I loved the all round hotel experience with this Future Hotel with everything you need in a room to make things as stress free as possible. Straight forward, easy living and a good restaurant/bar on the premises.
Disappointed

Hotel was very difficult to find at first because of road works not their fault but not a great start.
Booked in and struggled with luggage trolley and wheelchair, no offer of help in getting luggage up to room on their hotel trolley.
Booked disabled room for wheelchair. Bathroom great but access to room impossible for my elderly parents. Door very heavy, difficult to negotiate with wheelchair especially with large ridge to push chair over. No room to push wheelchair in room or get it next to bed or get simmer next to bed or turn wheelchair. Completely unsuitable room except bathroom .
Restaurant awful. Slow service, poor food & not always what you ordered. Desert was inedible & when staff told not even an apology. Even worse, unused cutlery put on empty chair where people have just been sitting while table wiped then back on table for next customers , REALLY!
Surprise surprise no post stay evaluation. Filled in restaurant survey with email details. No contact follow up :(
great hotel shame about the Fishbone restaurant

Hotel is always good but the Fishbone restaurant attached to it lets it down. On the main menu we were greeted with the news that 3 dishes were off. The dessert Crumble was to be 15 minutes as the chef had to make it and there was no Vanilla ice cream. Go across the road and buy some!! The crumble was uncooked apple and biscuit crumbs thrown on the top. Breakfast as usual is poor
