Horrible experience
Gerd Von 31/05/2016 11:02I was here with my brother a few days ago. Didn't stay at the hotel but just went to the restaurant.
We were basically ignored until the very end of our meal. Waiter apologised 3 times for "forgetting" to take the orders / bringing the drinks / etc. Only the last time the apology sounded somewhat sincere. Female personnel didn't look at us and ignored us completely the entire evening. Only at the very end they became more friendly.
My brother and I independently got the impression we were ignored because we were "2 men" sitting alone at a table. Other tables, with couples and families, received all the attention they wanted/needed. We were not rude, spoke the language and were in no way demanding. So we were flabbergasted we received this treatment.
In normal conditions I would just leave the restaurant, but try to find another restaurant around 9 PM in Austria that will serve you food. Mind you, we were there at 7 30 PM, we had to wait that long ...
Cheap Base for Sking
ToddMDon 29/10/2014 21:14We had to find someone to check us in when we first arrived there is now obvious reception area. There is ample parking available in front of the hotel. Our room was very large with a couch and table. The breakfast was good had an egg cooker that some guest could not seem to figure out. There was a strange smell downstairs. The town has almost nothing to do at night, all the grocery stores closed before we got back from skiing. There are very few restaurants in the town, the hotel is one of them.
Not good. Just awful.
joegold80on 21/07/2014 17:53Arrived a little after four - took 10 minutes to find someone to check in with, all the while dodging the moth eaten taxidermy on the walls and floors. I enjoy a good, traditionally appointed Gasthaus - bring the stuffed animals! But when the place smells a little funky and said stuffed animals appear to have seen better days, it doesn't sit well. If we hadn't been running late for an appointment, we would have left.
Room: fortunately, no moth eaten stuffed animals, but shabby is an understatement. 30 year old bathroom fixtures, white pleather couch with scuffs and rips on it. The bed was just foam and uncomfortable.
Breakfast was passable, if you ignored the flies that were only people in the breakfast room when we came downstairs. There was a coffee machine in the room, which produced below average coffee, but we were grateful for as we were ignored for 20 minutes before being offered boiled eggs. Finally. Took 15 minutes to show up and were hard. Unhappy.
So it is cheap, but considering the options in the area for €110 or less, we just shouldn't have bothered... boo. This was the last day of an awesome holiday - took the shine off it.
Oh - and we were told when checked in that we could only eat before 7, because they had a big event on that night (70's and 80's disco!!!)... would have been nice to have been told when we made the reservation.
Very nice place to stay
00Mountains00on 06/01/2014 10:19We stayed here over new years and were pleasantly surprised by the nice ambiance. It is a more traditional place to stay with a small restaurant (regular stammtisch), hunting trophies hanging from the walls, and very nice staff. The rooms were clean and spacious with gorgeous views of the Alps.
We had a delicious meal in the restaurant with game meat and excellent flavors. The chef is certainly top notch and has unique creations that taste wonderful.
Every morning, there is a hearty breakfast included with breads, cheeses, sausages, cereals, coffee, tea, juice, cocoa, eggs...
We stayed here for a ski trip and found that Hochzeiger was a good family place with a large number of runs and within a 30 min drive from this hotel.
