Peace and Solitude

A hotel that's comfortable enough and clean. A cafe that gives you the feeling that the time stood still and a restaurant for intimate fine dining. The staff are very helpful and accommodating. No complaint regarding WIFI. You don't even have to ask for a password. So, after a busy and stressful week, a place to be, to recharge. Perfect location, in the middle of national park, biking distance from Blokzijl and Giethoorn, the Little Venice of the North. So what more do you need for a perfect weekend.

This Location is just amazing and very near to Giethoorn village. Quiet place perfect for relaxation and nature lovers. You can sit near Canal eat, drink and gaze the natural beauty. They provide cycles on rent. Its very near to highway. Lots of car parking spaces.Breakfast was fine. Home made breads were highlight. Staff was very friendly and very helpful. We enjoyed every bit of it.
Rooms were very clean and well maintain. Rooms were also provided with all facilities. I would love to visit again and stay few more days.

This property is located at a quiet place with a stunning natural view. Need own vehicle or taxi to reach the place. Though the hotel is near the highway, still you need to walk almost 15 minutes to reach the hotel if you arrived by public transportation. I stayed only one night here. Room was good with adequate facilities. Friendly and most helpful staff. Especially the hostess Ms Wilma. After the check-in process, she had given me the bike for rent with a route map to visit Gietoorn. Food was excellent and so tasty. Dutch styled breakfast with different kind of freshly baked breads and fresh juices. It"s really sweet to wake up hearing the birds chirping in the morning!! Had got a chance to do a morning walk through the nearby areas with the beautiful views. While check-out it was difficult to get a taxi as my train booking is within an hour. However Ms Wilma gone beyond the expected service by dropping me to the train station Steenwijik. Super service!!.Need to stay more days in future.
Picturesque, but basic

A picturesque setting next to water gives this hotel it's charm. It's proximity to Giethoorn and various cycle routes is a great advantage. The staff, we found to be very friendly, contrary to some other reviews. The rooms were fine. A bit dated but clean and comfortable. Breakfast was very Dutch (and by that I mean hagelslag and boiled eggs!), but there was a wide range of bread that had been freshly baked. Breakfast was ok for one or two nights, but after that could be a bit repetitive.
Be aware that there is no lounge, which is a real shame in the autumn/winter months as although the outside area looks appealing, you then notice the lack of indoor facilities.
