Does not feel like a 4 star hotel

We spend one night at Genoardo Park Hotel before heading to the airport in Palermo.

The hotel is located outsideWiFin, although our GPS had us go through heavy traffic.

The hotel garden is nice and the pool is decent. The interior and rooms has a moldy smell, and as a whole it seems worn down (the style is old fashioned).

The WiFi did not work when we arrived, but got back up in a couple of hours. There are hotspots dedicated to the wifi, but we had connection in our room even though it was slow.

We wanted our last Italian pizza and needed some grocery shopping and both are found near by. The pizzeria is located approximately 200 m. and the supermarket about 800 m. from the hotel. The road to both had some traffic and is quite narrow, we suggest taking a car to the supermarket.

Breakfast was ok, but nothing fancy, the coffee was from a machine.

All in all it was a decent stay, but too expensive. Would probably not choose it again unless the price was lowered considerably.

Good choice in Palermo's county

The hotel and the room are nice, the hotel staff was very nice and gentle.
The location if you haven't a car and not used to narrow streets isn't the best, even if the location is at five minutes from Monreale and ten minutes car from Palermo city center.

Pleasantly surprised

The place was one of many recommended to us by our travel agent. We went on the hotel's website and had a look-see at their photos. It seems big and grand and our impression was of a place catering to large tour groups and/or families. But being early May, we may just miss the start of the season. We arrived close to noon and found the hotel as big and grand as expected but quiet as a church. We were told that the hotel was full but that everybody is out for their tour. By the time we finished our check-in procedure, ably assisted by Dario, of the reception desk, we were famished. We asked if we could have lunch there as we had just experienced a horrendous drive from the airport to the hotel. The roads are just wide enough to accommodate two cars but busses get thru too, which is a miracle in itself. At that moment we were the only guests present and the hotel director showed up to orchestrate the serving of our lunch. We were treated to a very lovely lunch that the chef conjured up at that very moment and we were suitably impressed as the director himself, also gave us tips to enjoy more of what Palermo has to offer. We stayed for three nights and though it is true that it is a bit out of the way, it was that, perhaps that made our trip more relaxing and stress free. All in all, the service we got from the staff was excellent and we would like to particularly mention the exceptional help that the hotel director, Mr. Liga extended to us.

Excellent choice in Monreale

We were concerned about large tour groups and poor service, but we stayed two nights and found the service and staff to be flawless. Dinners were exceptionally good, and the staff, especially Fillipo, went out of their way to help us confirm our ferry to Salerno. ( We would NOT recommend the Grimaldi ferry! ) In all, we found the Genoardo to be an excellent choice in Monreale.
