Hotel Ghironi - great base for exploring La Spezia, The Gulf of Poets, and the Cinque Terre
Jane Fon 23/04/2017 15:01The hotel is well located in a residential area between two major streets - one that goes straight into the La Spezia city centre, and the other to the autostrada. Breakfast is included with the tarrif and is just great - a choice of boiled eggs, cereal, fresh fruit and yoghurt, cold meats and cheeses, as well as a range of sweet cakes and pastries. A short walk gives you two top early opener coffee options - Cafe Maeli and La Genuina Pasticceria - and some great cafe / pizzeria places for the evening meals. My choice is the fab - full of locals - O Sole Mio......watch out for the huge serves! The staff at Hotel Ghironi are really helpful - most have some English, and two of the ladies on Reception are fluent in several languages. At the Hotel, the parking is free with many places, the wi fi is free and reliable, and there is a small bar and coffee machine in the foyer. The Reception has all the local tourist information, and the hotel has its own shuttle to the boat and train for visiting the Cinque Terre, and having stayed there twice now......I will definitely be staying at the Hotel Ghironi next trip to the area.

The room are clean and wide with indipendent aircon.
Bathroom spacious and well cleaned
Free wify in all the structure
Special service at the breackfast,very good
Good price
spacious private parking
No restourant,but nera by is possible to found good restourant and pizzeria
Served also by city bus

mariedesjardinson 26/02/2017 19:59We stayed here one night in May 2012 with contiki tour of Italy en route to Milan. Older furnishing in rooms, but very large rooms compared to the other places we'd stayed. The hallway into our room was very long too. Arrived late in the evening from the Monterrosso area to la spezia. The bathroom was very large too and done in green marble. The shower was comfortably large and there was a stool in it. Room was clean and comfortable. Needs a Renovation of its furnishings since dated colour scheme.

I arrived quite late at night which would have been a problem at some places but the staff were very helpful
Can't complain about the place for what it charges
Clean, comfortable and a great breakfast.

Lynn Don 10/11/2016 02:43My colleagues and I were very disappointed with the rating given to this hotel. It is a 30 min walk to the town centre and in desperate need of refurbishment. The rooms are mediocre with rock hard beds and the air conditioning/heating is so old and loud. No restaurant to speak of except the breakfast room, small bar area. Mini bar fridge stocked only 2 bottles of each sparkling and still water and was unplugged besides. Reception was friendly and helpful. Not at all deserving of 4 stars.
