The location is nice in the heart of the charming Kyoto and close to the main attractions.
We were stayng at the Japanese style room.
The room was big but little bit old, expecially the bathroom. To our opinion it s overprized. We payed almost 400 euro a night for an average 3 star hotel.
The staff was very kind and polite but not very informative.

Really great staff. You felt like you were visiting family. Although I'm glad we got the Western and Eastern rooms, I preferred the Western room as I didn't really care to sleep on futons although I knew what I signed up for. Value was ok for a three star hotel. Overall, very please with service and location. Would return. Thank you

The staffs in this hotel are very friendly and helpful. On our first day of arrival at 1pm they volunteered to show us the resturants and shopping area while awaiting our checkin at 3pm. They were very helpful to show us how to get to the bamboo forest.
On our 3rd night here, I decided the ryokan beds were too hard for my back, so they changed our room to a western type, no question asked. The hotel is generally very quiet so sleep quality is good, except for my personal preference for soft beds.

I can't recommend this accommodation highly enough. The staff were excellent, very helpful and spot on with recommendations. The service was speedy and polite. The rooms were exceptionally clean and we loved the traditional feel of the hotel. The accommodation was close to two large beautiful shrines, busses, restaurants and beautiful traditional streetscapes. It was quiet and relaxing.

We stayed for 7 nights at Maifukan with two young children. The staff were amazing and extremely helpful with all requests and gave excellent recommendations on eating. We had japanese style rooms which we found very comfortable. The hote is in a great quiet location close to Gion and many wonderful sights, shopping, resataurants and picturesque Kyoto lanes. Highly recommend for a great spot in Kyoto
