Gold Beach Resort Mauritius - For total relaxation

We arrived late at night by airport shuttle to the resort. The staff met us on arrival with smiles and accommodated us for a late dinner and cocktails. Our rooms were neat & clean with aircon and TV and just what was required for a holiday away from our busy city life.
A wide variety on the breakfasts buffet with various options of fresh fruit, yoghurt, crepes, cereals, eggs, bacon, sausages, breads, croutons, jams and they also accommodated vegetarians.
There is an option to order in for lunch however we were exploring the island and never had an option to try out the lunch menus.
Buffet dinner changed every evening experiencing the exciting Mauritian cuisines. Choices of salads, and desert were also offered. Chicken & Fish being their main dishes. The staff also went out of their way to accommodate vegetarians and made special meals on requests.
An array of tropical cocktails were available at the Cabana Bar for a relaxing sunset drink while watching the sunset every evening. Sago dancers entertained us and we partied the night away.
Although some people complaint of having no Wifi we experienced no problems however the connection was slow due to the Wifi reception.
We were further surprised to get back to our room to find towels in the shapes of swans with petals laid on our bed and a birthday cake for my husbands birthday.
The staff were very friendly, complimentary and helpful and went out of their way to accommodate us with all our queries being from reception desk, cleaners, restaurant staff and management.
A recommendation would be to get a Mauritian sim card as calls work out cheaper.
We utilized our debit cards at the local SBM bank (ATM) to draw rupees (bank charges were low).
Lovely market shops opposite the resort and in walking distance offering souveniers which you can barter for.
A must is a visit by speed boat/catamaran to the Ilx Aux Cerfs Island to see the waterfall.
South Tour on Sic visit to the Valley Des Couleurs was exciting with offering of quad bike tours, buggy tours, various zip lines, entrance fee is additional. Food offering at the local restaurant not appetising and pricey.
Hiring of a motorbike and riding to Tamarin bay was an experience. We found a beach restaurant next to Lux Hotel ordered a burgher (Slider) and refreshment at very reasonable price.
For a total different day we visited the racecourse. Their was an entrance fee for the men only. You would need to take rupees if you want to take any bets as there is no ATM's at the racecourse. Everyone was dressed smartly.
Boat ride offerings directly on the beach to see dolphins, snorkelling, fishing, or to go to various parts of the island is available. A suggestion is to check with the hotel if there are any tours available and to get a group to go together to save on costs.
Thank you to all the staff at Gold Beach Resort for making our stay a memorable one we will definitely be back.

As needed, we found a beach-facing resort in Mauritius which is worth its rating since their private beach with sea facing pool is point of attraction.
Evening bar near the pool is awesome.
Staff at reception can be more cordial, overall it's perfect if you are one of silent beach lovers.
Unknowingly BIG Mistake!!

I travel regularly across Africa for work. Mauritius is the nice trip on the calendar. In an attempt to try a new hotel we booked Gold Beach. From the get-go it was clear that this hotel was completely sub-standard. I write this review not from a business perspective, but as a holiday goer. Bookings were messed up by the hotel, staff is SHOCKINGLY unhelpfull and as a guest you feel that you are an inconvenience. I have NEVER experienced such a a bad reception desk. We more than once asked the hotel next door (Pearle Beach, looks great) for assistance in some regard. Pearle beach was happy to assist and did, where the reception staff at Gold Beach blatantly was not willing to help. This with something as simple as arranging for a taxi. Rooms at Gold beach are OK, but could use upgrading. Very little space for relaxation around hotel grounds. Food was really below standard and one often had to wait for buffets to be topped up. We ditched half-board and went for food elsewhere. Not a single bottle of water or coffee/tea in room. If after hours you want water to drink, you should hope for rain, because again staff can do nothing for you, except tell you that it is not advisable to drink the tap water. Gold Beach will never see me again!
Nice view!

Excellent location!
On arrival took 30mins to check in
Front staff aren't welcoming
1st room given was too noisy
2nd room wasn't much of an improvement
No tea & coffee facilities - requested a kettle
I was told to go to the bar to get cups
Buffet breakfast - choose meal & ordered from menu then each food came out individually at least 5-10 mins apart
Food was not nice!
Check out we had to pay an additional 36c being that remaining balance when converted the next day.
The whole place needs updating including staff training...
Thankfully - only here for one night
Definitely not worth £97
