Great value but...

I booked this room sight unseen when I went to Wuzhou for a few days at the end of February. Don't take a taxi for any more than 10 yuan from the airport and wait until one relents. It'll only cost you that to get there from the hotel when you wish to leave. The lobby is really, really pretty. Nice liquor store there, barbershop with late-night ladies that wish to offer "massage", great tea/coffee bar. Pan, the daytime server, is really pleasant and attentive. She tries to learn English but she doesn't get much practice there.
I took a Besta 7000 translator with me there and, well, without it I'd have been completely unable to communicate with the hotel staff. If you don't speak any Mandarin or Cantonese, you will have a rough time. I speak a little but nowhere near enough it seems. I didn't eat at the restaurant on the 4th floor and instead went around the corner a couple of blocks to eat somewhere else that was much cheaper.
The room is what it is. My floor looked like someone gave birth on it and the slippers they provided got much use. The shower leaked but it was plenty hot was a really well put together bathroom so far as aesthetics go. Western toilet but Chinese bed: hard as plywood. Mind you, I've not slept so well as I did in China... Internet is very spotty on their provided computer. Menu and all things on it are strictly in Chinese. Did not find a WiFi anywhere near the hotel but there is an internet cafe if you turn left out the front door and turn left at the intersection. Look for "网吧" on the left side of the road.
Wuzhou is a small town... of 4 million. Walk around and enjoy it.
