Booked a Comfort Room for 4 night, including breakfast.
The hotel is well located for an easy flat bag drag from the Train Station or Bus Terminal and is right in the centre of town. Access to the hotel is down a short access road. Ramp and steps provided.
We were too early for check in so left our bags and came back later. A this time we were given info, recommendations for food and a map. Allocated Room 307.
The room is functional with a sitting area desk, tv safe, plenty of hanging area and a safe. The ensuite works well with a spacious walki in shower and a drying rack, which is much appreciated. Wifi is fast and can be relied upon.
Our room overlooks the car park and some views of the church and elegant post office building. Some of the more expensive rooms with a balcony overlook the beautiful river.
Breakfast is held in a large unremarkable room downstairs. We had breakfast there for 4 mornings. This hotel caters for bus groups and if you time access to the breakfast room wrongly, its a bit like a scrum and noisy. The cakes and pastries were stale, but there is plenty of choice.
Generally though, the food is replenished quickly and there is plenty of variety . The eggs are in warmers as is bacon and sausage and there are boiled eggs. Coffee is brought to your table in small pots.
There is a fresh juice machine which was only working 2 mornings out of 4, but when it was, it was fantastic. The other juices, although good choice, were not great in quality.
All staff we encountered returned our hello, but did not go the extra.
The hotel provides a bar and restaurant onsite, however we did not use it. There is 1 lift which can get tied up when the tour groups are leaving in the morning.
We found Hotel Goldenes Schiff delivered and we enjoyed the quiet room but found it a bit impersonal.

This hotel was just right for our needs. It was an older style hotel and we stayed here for 4 days in a room with a small balcony which had a beautiful view of the river. It was a nice big room with a sitting area. It had a big bathroom with a shower that didn't leak. The breakfast was very good and the breakfast staff and reception staff were very friendly. We had dinner at the hotel restaurant one night, however it was fairly average. The restaurant was actually closed on Sunday, something that I have never come across in a hotel before. There was no tea or coffee in the room, which seems the norm for Austria, however there was a fridge. There was a small parking area in the hotel courtyard which we found easily because it was well signposted. The location of the hotel was excellent.

We stayed for 10 consecutive days in room 303. Spacious Room very clean well looked after.
Bathroom with rain head shower, fluffy bath towels and robe. Modern features. Balcony at front view to the river. Lavish Breakfast Buffet. Well replenished and served by 2 lovely waitresses. Starting with freshly sqeezed orange juice. Sparkling champ. White and pink. Juice station. Assortment of bakery. Health food corner. Eggs and its accompaniments, Meat and cheese assortment. Fresh good coffee od tea to start a wanderful day. Convenient for star excursions in the entire region. Easy accesible by train or bus. A fine sauna wet and dry to end the day.A well Recommended place to stay and return.

This hotel was great, and I really enjoyed my stay. Every member of staff that I encountered was friendly, yet professional. Though I don’t speak German, I never once had any communication issues since most employees appeared to speak English.
I had a Single Deluxe modern room on the 4th floor which had a little private balcony overlooking the river and mountains beyond. There was also a free, numeric keypad safe in the room. Internet was good with just the odd drop-out when using a video calling service. The bathroom was large enough with a walk-in shower and wet-room type screen. Toiletries were in abundance in large ‘squeezable’ dispensers.
Breakfasts were great with attentive staff replenishing low stocks and also asking if you wanted coffee within a minute or two of sitting-down. The hot selection was scrambled eggs with or without herbs, then sausage one day, bacon another. The cold selection was standard and bountiful.
The entrance to the hotel is off a wide alley which joins the pedestrian zone near the famous Zauner cake shop, and a Billa for snacks/drinks. The hotel is just a short walk to the rail/bus station (walk along the riverside road/path if you want to avoid pedestrians), and since I did my Salzkammergut touring via public transport, that made it extremely convenient.
Unfortunately, I didn’t use the restaurant, though prices seemed very reasonable, but when I return to Bad Ischl again, the Hotel Goldenes Schiff would certainly be my first choice.

An excellent location for all of the town. Staff were helpful and the breakfast was good. Room was quite small, we over looked the side street. Great time to go when the festival is on. Good storage for bikes.
