I traveled last week with my senior parents and an 11 year old child. We've stayed at other Bahia Principe Resorts which were fantastic so were excited about this trip. The resort has a beautiful pool and great snorkeling, but that's about it.
Food was hit and miss, lacking variety and creativity. The children had a hard time finding anything to eat. My friends who were staying in the Luxury (adults only) section came to our buffet one night and said the food was terrible compared to their buffet.
I paid more for my single room in Grand than my friends in Luxury paid per person, however their internet, safe and room service were all included, whereas I had to pay $6 per day for the safe, $70 per week for internet and was told I had to upgrade my package to get room service. They were also able to reserve specialty restaurants for every night of their stay AFTER I was told all the restaurants were booked solid the whole week. I felt penalized for travelling with a minor in our party.
If you have an issue, don't bother to complain about it. They appear very friendly and helpful, but really they are stalling and trying to get you to go away. I won't bore you with the details, but it took over 24 hours for staff to fix a problem we had with our rooms and my parents were "homeless" for 1/2 a day with no apology. After speaking with other guests, it seems like the front line staff either have no power or no desire to make any decisions and, conveniently, management is never available when needed.
Just an FYI, the staff recommend you use the Bahia app to make dinner reservations but it won't allow you to make dinner reservations for people in multiple rooms.
My advice to you -- If you're going to stay at this resort, go without kids and stay in the Luxury section. Otherwise, I'd recommend staying elsewhere.

As a prior travel consultant and one who travels frequently, I have a very good understanding of what the expectations of a 4.5 to 5 star resort should be. The Golden section where we stayed was a 5 star according to Transat. If they consider a 5 star with 3 star quality a true rating of this hotel then they are then correct. This hotel is in no way 5 star quality in their food quality and selection, bar selection, cleanliness and beaches. Premium alcohol is only available at the lobby bar at an US additional premium. Be aware of guest services. Lip service is the name of the game but fails on execution. The Orquidea buffet lacks service and during busy times be prepared to clear and set your own table and line up for empty or near empty buffet food containers. The food was never hot, barely warm. Room service menu is definitely catered to a childs palate and is delivered cold.
This hotel was a true disappointment. We will never return.

Went to this resort in November. Greats swimming pool for the kids. Really nice beaches. Service could have been a bit better. Most of the staff were either mean or really nice. Lots of fun things to do like beach volleyball, going to the disco or karaoke ect. The luxury side was able to go anywhere but not vise versa so that really sucked. Room service was alright only offered some food at night and maids only made my bed not change any sheets even when very dirty. View can be good if you have the view to the Oceanside.

Awesome honeymoon destination resort and staff were fantastic and event staff member Jovan was a riot definetly recommend to everyone. Food beach and guest services were all well done and nade the stay so enjoyable i cant wait too go back next year!!

My work group got a day pass to have our meeting to plan for the new year. We waited at the gate for about 40 mins before security let us in. Apparently we weren't on the list, when we got on the property we waited another 20 mins for the person to check in our group. At lunch absolutely no customer service. So it's time to check out and they lost one of my coworkers drivers license! Which they took at check in I've never done a day pass so I think it's because of the day pass why they kept it in the first place. They lady at tje desk was rude, no customer service skills, and left us and sent someone else out. They lady that checked us in is yet to come speak with us even though we called her and informed her of the issue and she said she was coming to speak with us. We waited about 20 mins at about 3 separate times for someone to speak with us. The worst worst worst hotel ever. Will never recommend will never go there!!!!
