Beautiful views and superb staff made for a great stay
Grant Won 07/06/2017 00:21We enjoyed our stay here immensely in no small measure due to the friendly and helpful staff. Nothing was too much trouble. For example they organised taxi journeys at very advantageous rates which is important as some drivers in Sorrento have a reputation for overcharging for this service. Breakfast was pretty standard fare but lunch or dinner in the restaurant was top quality, served elegantly and in good time. The bar overlooking the infinity pool is open from 2pm to late and that offers good Italian and other food (e.g. burgers) and a wide range of drinks. The hotel sits above the small harbour of Seiano - which can be reached via fairly steep steps by the side of the hotel (although the long walk back up again may be difficult for older people and for anyone with disabilities) - and due to its unrivalled position the views towards Naples and Ischia are sensational. Access to the hotel by car is a little difficult due to narrow roads. Although Seiano looks quite close to the centre of Sorrento when viewed on a map, in reality the area is hilly and with heavy traffic the norm, a journey into town can take up to 30 minutes. The hotel taxi price is about 40 euro at most times one way or 50 euro after midnight. There is a train service from Seiano but it is limited in the evenings. We made some day trips direct from the hotel, including Positano & Amalfi one day and Capri on another, which were reasonable in price in part because the charge into town was absorbed as part of the tour cost. For anyone who likes an active night life such as is found in Sorrento the location of the Angiolieri may be a negative due to the taxi fares and time taken to travel to and from town. For others liking a quieter life the hotel location is a positive. We stayed in a garden room without seaview. Pricewise it was more at the budget end of the scale. The room was adequate but rather dated and it was in need of more plug sockets to cope with tablets, mobiles etc. The bathroom was small and had seen better days. The beds were ok but rather small with very firm mattresses. We didn't want to spend more time than was necessary in there. No doubt other larger seaview rooms would have been much nicer. The public rooms were nice and bright. All things considered we did not regard this as a true 5 star hotel but I have given it a 5 star rating here as we really loved it at the Angliolieri and would go back again without hesitation. This is due to the beautiful views, the lovely pool area (which isn't overcrowded), the food, ambience and the very special staff.
Perfect

Its only a 10 minute train ride, and well away from the hustle and bustle.
Its quiet, clean and the staff were very welcoming and extremely helpful.
We had a garden room, although not big it was very comfortable, and the bathroom was excellent with a jacuzzi tub with shower above.
Breakfast on the terrace, with amazing views of the bay of Napoli and Vesuvious .
I would have liked tea / coffee facilities in the room, this would be my only criticism.
Excellent view, tiny room
globaltraveller200on 24/04/2017 14:58Our one-night stay in Angiolieri did not meet our expectations and we don’t consider it to be the five-star hotel it claims to be.
The hotel is well located with splendid views over the Bay of Naples to Mt Vesuvius. The public areas are elegantly minimalist both in décor and furnishing.
The main problem was our bedroom - tiny for a resort hotel, with the bed and wardrobe taking up c. 75% of the space. Even with the view it would have been claustrophobic for more than a night. The bathroom was well-equipped but also small.
Breakfast is an adequate but not five-star buffet. Dinner was good but not exceptional.
As we were with a group in transit to Rome, it was difficult to take a view on how good a base the Angiolieri would be for touring the area. But we thought it rather isolated, both locally and on the peninsula, and from previous experience consider Sorrento a better choice.
Watch for dangers in the bathroom.
localworldtraveleron 11/04/2017 21:58No emergency cord in the bathroom. The "snake" or elongated "S" on the tub bottom is not paint, but a multi-level space that can pitch a person forward into the wall or sideways into the shower-plumbing. Catching hold of the glass "wall," it moves, which can show that the rubber on the bottom has become unsealed from the glass, thus causing water to go onto the slippery tile floor and bathmat. End of the hallway had a broken glass door with holes, but no tape to hold the door remnants together nor any warning to avoid the door to the outside stairwell. Kingsize bed in bedroom allowed virtually no walking space for two people in a shared room. One needs a degree in tech to work the lights. Nice people, some trying too hard to be "sophisticated." Wines could be better at dinner, and food could be more. Nicely arranged breakfast, but so-so food.
