Pros -
The hotel is walking distance from the Santa Maria Novella train station. There is a subway path that goes from an entrance near the McDonald's that exits right in front of the hotel. Sadly, we had no awareness of this until after we walked over the surface streets to the hotel which is visible from the street side of the rail terminal.
The hotel is walking distance close to most of the downtown sites like the Uffizi Gallery and the Museum of Academia. If you want to go to the mall, the bus service stop is about a block away.
It is close to great restaurants including one of the top-rated Tuscan T-bone restaurants.
Our junior suite was very spacious although we found no use for the sofa opposite the his and her closets.
Average -
The breakfast is somewhat better than you'd find at most USA motels.
The staff was polite and helpful. We borrowed a plug adapter since the one we brought had larger diameter pins than fit the outlets.
Cons -
The bathroom was a bit small considering the room class. The tub required stepping up and over its wall - a bit of a challenge and risk perhaps for older travelers.
The Wi-Fi was OFF from 9:30 PM until 6:30 AM - useless if you need to converse with colleagues in the western USA.

I love this hotel. It's charming and spacious with wonderful views from some of the rooms. I have stayed here three times now and would stay again when I next visit Florence. The location is excellent and there rooftop terrace bar is not to be missed. Breakfast could be better but it is compensated by that fabulous view.

The hotel staff overall were very helpful. The room staff were great. Two nights we came back from being out and went to the roof top bar to finish off the evening. Valamia, part of the bar staff, was rude on both occasions. I would not let her near any of my customers.

The hotel is located in a good location only minutes from the Duomo. The rooms are very small even by European standards. Be careful when using your credit card as the converted a charge to US Dollars and charged a fee to do the conversion. I tried to get this straightened out but had no success.

Impolite staff, it is the worse hotel I ever stayed in Italy. I've been coming to Florence minimum twice I year since 13 years for the Pitti Uomo Exhibition. I never had such a bad experience. The staff makes you feel like you constantly disturb them with your presence. They are rude and not willing to assist you. Very dirty glasses at the breakfast, low quality of food, internet very slow, almost not working. I complained to the manager, he assumed the serious mistakes of his staff but found no other way to apologize than an unfinished letter and a 9 euro bottle of wine. The price is way to high for what you receive. Don't stay here, you will ruin your mood. Just to make you laugh, I attach a photo with the computer written and signed unfinished letter and the bottle of cheap wine.
