Positives:
We travelled to Aci Trezza specifically for the swordfish festival and chose this hotel for its proximity to the harbour and to the town centre. The location was very good.
Negatives:
This hotel has seen better days. Somehow it has brushed up quite well for the photos displayed on Tripadvisor, but the reality is that it is faded, ageing and in need of some TLC. Quite a lot of TLC, really. I suspect that it was the place to be and to be seen in the 1950s and 1960s, but it really is past its sell-by date now.
We are puzzled by the photos of a rather inviting looking terrace (with white umbrellas and white furniture) in the photoset on Tripadvisor. We were shown no such place and we found no such place. There was a sun terrace (which the receptionist seemed rather proud of) at the front beneath the circular storeys of the building, but this was unremarkable.
We are also puzzled by the photos of smart rooms with smart furniture. They do not suggest the reality, which was much more Travelodge than Riviera.
Breakfast had to be taken in a room in a building next door (which may or may not have been part of the hotel), which inevitably felt like a bit of a let down. Like a couple of other hotels we stayed in, it was disappointing to be faced with an urn of very un-Italian coffee rather than a fresh brew of espresso.
Staffing was inadequate. There was usually only one person on duty at reception and inevitably two guests to be kept happy!
The restaurant next door (to the east) which features prominently in one of the photos offers loud and continuous music until late at night. This is of course not the hotel's fault, and probably difficult to address, but I suspect this is a permanent feature.
Maybe we were naive expecting the possibility of a quiet room in a busy seaside coastal town, but be prepared!

My family and I stayed at this location for 9 nights in April. The hotel staff were very accommodating with assisting my father with retrieving his lost luggage after our transfer from Rome. The hotel is in a BEAUTIFUL location and the views from our balcony were breathtaking. The daily breakfast was continental style and had enough variety to make us happy, especially since it was included in our reservation for free. The staff is very willing to call a taxi if needed and assist in arranging excursions as they have relationships with tour guides in the area. The surrounding area of the hotel is full of wonderful restaurants and great views. Walking up to Aci Castello and visiting the castle is a must, along with the cyclops islands. From the hotel you can walk to a bus stop to go to Catania for €1 a person versus €25 for a taxi. The maid service was great. The woman was very sweet and visited our room daily.
The only negatives were that the building appears aged. The plumbing was hit or miss depending on the day. Our shower seemed to be clogged so the water would rise to a few inches while showering. The were beds a bit too firm and small but this is typical in European hotels in my experience. Be aware of mosquitos when visiting during the warmer months. The maid was kind enough to provide plug-in mosquito repellents for us. Additionally the wifi was very very slow so if you have online school or business matters to take care of over the Internet you will have a hard time. The staff offered to let me do my homework in the office which was very nice.

We visited this hotel in Feb 2017 for 4 days and found it so beautiful, with big and clean rooms, lovely views and lovely people working there - especially Mr Massimo at reception and Mr Alessio at the breakfast. Thank you, we will be back!

Not cleaned hotel, not hospitality staff. They write that they have private parking, but it's false. Poor breakfast. When we came downstairs to ask where is restaurant , the woman on reception talked on phone and didn't put any attention on us. So we found it by ourself. Totally dirty. Never stay again.

We decided to stay here for our last 2 nights in Sicily, instead of Catania. We wanted our last 2 nights to be in a picturesque town on the water. And, Acitrezza was an excellent choice. Hotel was nice, ocean view overlooking the large black boulders the Cyclops threw at Ulysses into the sea! Nice eateries are all within a very short walking distance from hotel.
