My wife and I stayed here for one night while driving up the coast...too bad since the beach is right across the street with lounger and umbrellas. Would have been nice to stay for more than a day to enjoy the beach. The room was over looking the beach (and road....thank goodness in October it is the road partially less traveled by) with a large balcony and a fantastic view and sunset. Dinner in the restaurant was very good. Order the sword fish (sailfish). Breakfast was included, but don't go near the end as pickings were slim. The beds are firm, but a good night's sleep. Would recommend it if traveling through.

The staff is nice, it has a nice pool and is right opposite the beach. Rooms need to be updated, bed is hard and it is noisy if there is an event downstairs and I believe that a train passes maybe every hour.

We stayed one week in this hotel with my wife and 18 month son and we were very happy with almost everything! Hotel is very children friendly.
Booking - direct booking via their website as we did it. At the reception they told us that if you call them they will offer you even better rate than what is on website or different booking sites.
Rooms - we had triple room no. 219 with balcony and we asked for baby craddle. Large room with balcony and with private bathroom and minibar. There is also small kitchen - you have to pay to use it (do not know the amount as we did not use it)
Breakfast - typical italian, coffee made on the order, lots of sweet pastries, vegetable, fresh fruit. You can do your own fresh juice from the press machine!
Restaurant - if you want lunch or dinner you have to order it in the morning at the reception. You can have full menu (25 e/person) or you can choose only some dishes. We had lunch once and dinner once and it was very good.
Poolside - well kept, big swimming pool and smaller pool for kids combined with jacuzzi. Lots of chairs, beds, tables,etc.
Beach - you will have your own sunbed and umbrella for the whole stay, safeguard will give instructions. Well kept clean area with lots of stuff for kids (jumping castle, trampoline, slides, kids house and many more). There is a bar also.
Staff - most of the staff do not speak english. But they always smile and greet. With some body language you can always get what you need.
Surroundings - 2 km far is city of Amantea, you can also reach it via newly buil asphalt road dedicated for cyclists or pedestrians. Amantea has nice lungomare with plenty of bars/restaurants and charming old town (centro storico).
Improvement ideas - wifi is lousy, you have to reconnect yourself several times per day. Some metal cinstructions on the beach are rusty and have sharp edges - dangerous for kids.
Result - absolutely recommended.

We stayed for two weeks in Grand Hotel La Tonnara. It was our third visit in the row and we will surely come back. The hotel is located direct on the hotel beach, you have to cross the street (didn’t border us). Each time we visited the hotel we booked a seafront room with breakfast. The room is nice size and has a wonderful terrace with frontal sea view. The whole hotel and the rooms are very clean and nice decorated. On the back of the hotel is a very clean swimming pool, which we did not use because the beach and the sea are gorgeous. Beach towels on daily basis and sunbeds on the beach are included in the room price. The beach is extremely good organised, clean and well kept. You feel secure on the beach and in the water because of the “bagnino” signore Mauricio. He sees everything and is the whole day present on the beach. One day he was missing (probably a day of) and it was kind chaotic without him. He knows all the guests and greets you when you come to the beach or when you leave. He assigns your sunbeds, so you don’t have to run at 7:00 am to reserve your sunbed as it is in most hotels on the coast. On the beach is a small, simple but nice beach bar where you can get whatever you want. Marco is a very friendly barman. We didn’t try the restaurant because we like to explore the small local places in the area (you need therefore a car), but the breakfast is gorgeous and is served under the watchful eye of signora Checchina. All the hotel employees are very friendly. The ladies from the reception speak English and are very professional. Check in and checkout very fast. The only think which was a little bit annoying is the connection to the internet. You can’t stay connected and you have to log-in several times a day. We will surly visit this place again.

We were with children for a week. The services, the crew were magnificent. Although, just in the receptioners can speak English, but we hast been any communication problem. The breakfast was remendous and lots of variety of meals and drinks. The price includes the Daily towel on the beach the umbrella and beds. We got a card with 30euros which we can use in the bar. We would like to come back. Excellent values for the price.
