What People are saying

Wonderful stay, first class service

travelbee1 on 20/11/2017 20:48

Stayed a week and enjoyed the time at this place. Service was excellent - decent and super friendly, professionell and attentive.
Rooms are not too big but big enough and tasteful (harmonising to the building = old palazzo).
Bathrooms are not brand new but in good condition.
We'll miss the beakfast at the roof top terrace with (nearly) 360 view.

The parking slot in front of the hotel was super handy.

For those people are very sensitive to any noise:
first: it's a very old building and you can't avoid to listen any loud discussions or tv of your nightbors;
second: if you get room no 119 or 120 you'll be at the "pool position" right next to the elevator (you'll notice every singel trolley bag on the stone floor).
Third: If you open the window the street can be quite noisy too.

Many thanks to the wonderful staff for all the millions of little details maked our time at your hotel so nice and relaxed.

A lovely place to stay with good water side views from the restaurant.

The location was perfect, right beside the water on the little island of Ortigia - a bridge away from the main city of Syracuse. We arrived late in the evening having driven from Palermo airport. The staff could not have been more helpful and thus it was for all of our stay. They were welcoming and looked after us well.
The room was comfortable and well-appointed. The windows did not have a pleasing view over the water, but as we were out and about every day, it did not impinge on our enjoyment. We did have some fun sorting out the shower head as the hose was twisted and the head attachment was round the wrong way! All ended well.
My one annoyance was that there was no mirror next to a plug socket - try tonging one's hair using the blank TV screen as the only reflective surface near to a socket! All the joys of being a woman. This needs to be thought about by the hotel as I am sure I could not have been the only one to find this a problem.
The hotel's parking was in front of the hotel which was a godsend. There was a charge per day for this facility, but well worth it when we saw how little parking was available. It would have been a nightmare to try to find a parking space in the streets around the hotel.
We thoroughly enjoyed our stay and would highly recommend such a lovely hotel.

What a beautiful hotel. Reasonably priced. Stayed here two years in a row.

I cannot say enough good things about this hotel. It is a beautiful, relaxing, quiet hotel where the staff takes excellent care of its guests. Plus they park your car for you right across the street. Views from the rooms look out on the water. Rooms are very, very nice & updated. Robes & slippers provided. Our room both times had an upstairs for the bedroom with bath, storage & living room downstairs. The lobby is grand & elegant where you can sit & read or use their computer on a lovely antique desk. In their rooftop restaurant a delightful breakfast is served with a large selection of foods to choose from.

Great location, Fabulous rooftop

Yes, it is a historic property, so if you are looking for huge rooms, find a modern chain hotel and don't stay here. Our two rooms (one on second floor, and one on the third) were fine - well appointed and comfortable. The location can't be beat, and it is one of the few hotels in Ortigia where it is a snap to drive up to the door. A valet parked our car from there, and like all the service here, was professional and efficient. The hotel is lovely, but the rooftop restaurant really is particularly special. We loved having an evening cocktail while looking out over the water and the island.

Very disappointing

Our travel agency had booked us a room with a sea view. We did not realise that this would be a mezzanine affair with the bed (no other furniture and a light on only one side on the wall) on a platform up a narrow metal staircase. The sitting area downstairs with the bathroom was dark and a metal chevron pattern covered the walls. The sea view was only visible if you stood up downstairs.
After five minutes we asked to change rooms and were given a very small room on the top floor by the restaurant (third floor) It had a balcony but the door was broken so we could not use it. The shower room was cramped but OK.
We did enjoy our sea view and the bed was very comfortable and the air conditioning worked well but it was a shame to have four nights in such a small room. I saw from the evacuation plan that it was actually a single room which they had put a double bed in. This explained why there was only one light for the whole room which was on one side of the bed! (Apart from a spotlight above the door lighting up the air condioner unit!)
Reading other reviews I think the only place people have enjoyed staying is the second floor.
The breakfast buffet was fairly good though compared with other hotels, the hot dishes were very limited (scrambled eggs, bacon and frankfurter type sausages). Lovely white rolls. I was enjoying the freshly squeezed orange juice but for some reason it did not appear on the last two mornings. There was always smoked salmon which I did not find anywhere else.
One nice touch is that the maid comes in during the evening to give you fresh towels if necessary and leaves a delicious almond pastry each on the bed.
It was useful having the parking opposite but otherwise I would not recommend this hotel.
