Would not recommend this hotel to anyone had fire escape outside our window and the noise of the air-conditioning constantly it took the hotel three days to change our room. Very good location would go back to siestri lavante but not at this hotel

For lovers of old world elegance, I highly recommend the Grand Hotel Villa Balbi. Housed in a 17th century palace located across the street from the beach, the hotel has beautiful antique artwork and chandeliers, lobby with fabulous fireplace, restaurant, bar, game and reading rooms, garden, pool. The staff are friendly and helpful. My single room is one of the more modest rooms, and it's very charming. Some of the larger rooms are grand indeed. The price is extremely reasonable. It may lack some of the amenities of today's 4 and 5 star hotels, but it offers something a new high rise hotel can't: class.
And Sestri Levante is a great place to stay. Lovely, relaxed town with historic architecture and two beaches, many restaurants and shops. And far fewer tourists than Cinque Terre towns and Portofino, which are all easily reached by train or boat. I extended my stay because I loved both the hotel and Sestri so much.

We have just enjoyed a week at the Villa Balbi, the hotel is a good mix of old and new. The reception staff are most helpful addressing all of our needs, including a change of room to a quieter part of the hotel, the breakfast was a good selection of fresh fruits meats cheeses and sweet & savoury breads & cakes, again all the staff very attentive.The beach is just accross from the hotel & beds, parasols and towels are all provided, the beach area is very well maintained with very clean facilities, hotel has a good size pool if the beach isn't your thing. Close to the station making sightseeing easy. In all a very enjoyable stay, especially as it seems we were in a quieter period for visiting tourists.

The 17th century villa is just sooo beautiful, perfect location and the staff really makes the place! Monica and Cinzia at reception took care of all our needs and nothing was too much of a problem always professional, extremely knowledgeable and made us feel at home!
Top Restaurant staff and organics breakfast was such an amazing treat!! Would highly recommend this place!

Really beautiful decorated villa. With lots of original features,and beautifully decorated ceilings.The new part blended with old part where the main hotel rooms were.The service was excellent in all parts.Clean towels every day.Food good.
