Good hotel let down by silly policies and practices

I stayed at this hotel for the first time en route MCO to HKG meeting my wife flying in from another city. The Terminal Link bus, necessary if you have checked bags, worked well. The hotel is super convenient if you have international flights out of Term D at DFW although check-in and TSA runs at glacial pace so plan ahead (not a Hyatt issue)
The hotel and rooms are well-appointed. I ate in the restaurant where I received good food and service. Better than airport hotel average by far.
The Grand Hyatt could rate a higher rating but doesn't miss an opportunity to shoot itself in the foot by short-changing its guests:
Unless you notice the miniscule cards and ask there will be no coffee maker in your room. This is frankly pathetic. Guests should be asked on check-in. My coffee was comped after I complained but I still had to go downstairs to get it. Clearly about $$$ not customer service.
I booked business plan for my wife and I and received *one* breakfast. Which means neither of us had one, we used the AA Flagship lounge. But it also means I paid for something I didn't receive.
The shower floors are lethally slippery (although beautiful to look at) when wet or soapy. There are no non-slip mats. We used a towel.
Now being fully informed I would stay here again but conclude this is a hotel where the desire to profit absolutely overrides the customer experience, which is a shame. The DFW Grand Hyatt could be an outstanding airport hotel. But it isn't. Hence 3 stars.

Over night lay over

Spent the night here on a lay over..the rooms are huge and so very up to date as well as clean..if you have a early flight this is a great option to help reduce the extra time traveling from a hotel outside the airport.

I always try to get meeting organizers to book the Grand Hyatt at DFW when we are meeting in Dallas. The convenience, and entire hotel experience has always met or exceeded expectations. The rooms are quiet, the food is excellent and service is top notch.

Complicated relationship

This hotel and I have a complicated relationship. Every time I stay here, it is associated with cancelled flights and terrible travel experiences. That's to be expected of a hotel which is built into the terminal of an American Airlines biggest hub. As their services has progressed from average to terrible, this hotel has clearly benefited. It's an interesting type of a symbiotic relationship.

Last time I was stuck in DFW and stayed here the room rate was pure and unadulterated gouging. Not dissimilar to vendors who charge absurd prices for water during the hurricane. There was a storm and lots of flight ls were cancelled and all rooms were sold out and this hotel literally doubled its normal price to help the stranded passengers out. The service provided by the staff was also less than stellar. I wrote a review about my experience and the "management" posted a snarky response which basically boiled down to - if you don't like it stay somewhere else.

So traveling on this thanksgiving weekend from SFO and connecting in DFW I was prepared m. As soon as my flight in SFO had a mechanical and I knew I'd have to spend the night, I got on my Hyatt app and booked a room at a relatively reasonable price. The app is a bit awkward, but I got through it. When I arrived, the service at the desk was efficient and friendly. I even got a water bottle (good idea, since the one in the room is $6). Internet was free and good - another step forward for mankind.

The room was very well done, modem, clean, luxurious. The bathroom was top notch. I ordered a salad and a soup - it took 45 minutes to get,,but it was obviously individually prepared and well done. The $44 price tag was another reminder of that "highway robbery" mentality the legacy hotel chains have about riding sourced of revenue. And this hotel, since you have no other options for anything - excels at it. Not a great way to built loyalty, but an extra few bucks right now.

Bed was excellent and a mangled to get a great night's sleep. Although I did keep having a nightmare about someone trying to take advantage of me.

In the morning I checked out via the app and was on my way.

Overall - a much better experience. But the basic concept of this hotel remains that of getting their business from people who are experiencing misery because of the disruption of their travel plans. I'm sure there are some business people who find it convenient to stay and meet at their airport. And there maybe some whose connections simply dictate an overnight stay. But I would bet that a big portion of trackers are simply stranded. If the hotel maintained a set pricing model, it would become known as a great option for those who got jilted by AA, as is they have that "water bottle during the hurricane" feel.

Awesome business hotel

This Hyatt it one of three hotels located inside the DFW airport connected by a train loop around the entire airport. The grand Hyatt is contemporary and upscale. Dallas is a great central location for business people nationwide wide to meet up. Our business group never needed to leave the hotel. Great meeting facilities and restaurants in the hotel. This hotel has really nice rooms, very large and contemporary.
