Wonderful victorian village - type cottage. Huge appartments, well equiped and very clean. Amazing food and really welcoming staff. Lovely location: mountains from one side and the sea from the other. Will surely visit again!

Stayed 2 nights in November 2017 at the Grand Mercure Nelson Monaco Apartments. Enjoyed two outstanding dinners at the hotel restaurant with charming and gregarious Tommy Sims to welcome us and extol the virtues of the Nelson area. Our room was well appointed and the front-desk staff very pleasant. (One caveat: There is no elevator.) The hotel looks very old English and apparently hosts weddings most of the year. It's convenient to the airport and excursions to Abel Tasman National Park. Big recommendation for travelers!

These apartments feel as though you have entered a small English village. The brick buildings are surrounded by flowering plants and climbing vines and everything feels so homey. Our apartments were spacious on two levels and each was decorated slightly differently. One had a very country home feel and the other was more modern. We loved that each unit had a washer/dryer unit and all the amenities. They have either one or two baths but lots of toiletries and other nice touches! It is close to the airport but we had no noise and it was easy driving out of the city the next day from this location.

What a truly incredible experience I’ve had staying here at this hotel. I can’t call it a hotel as it really doesn’t feel like one. It’s a small community and everyone knows your name and welcomes you into their family.
The staff are exceptional. The best service I have EVER experienced and I travel a lot. The staff really do go above and beyond for whatever you may need. They have really thought of everything!
In particular Tommy was both Personal and professional. You feel like you instantly know him when you first meet him. His professionalism and sense of humour made the dining experience even more amazing than just the food. Ok...the food....BEST MEAL I’ve had in New Zealand. It was truly beautiful! It may have been a little more than I would usually spend on food however SO worth it. And when it is that good I do not care about the price. Definitely worth a visit just for the restaurant.
The reception staff were again friendly and just have so much experience in what they do. Exceptional service.
There’s lots to do in the area, Nelson is so close by just having to take a short taxi ride. You can then go to the national park of Abel Tasman which is beautiful. You can hire bikes, go to local vineyards, there is a swimming pool on site as well as a salon.
About beauty spa is definitely worth a visit. Lisa was incredible and the choice of services available are brilliant if you ever needed a facial, massage etc...let’s face who doesn’t need one of those? They are highly recommended so do try and book in with them if in the area.
I also had a site inspection of the hotel which was guided by Chrissy. This allowed me to view all the rooms available as well as facilities at the resort. Chrissy was so welcoming and I can’t thank her enough for everything she and the rest of the staff have done for us on our stay.
I can highly recommend this hotel for any type of stay!
I will be returning myself as well as passing my recommendation on to my company Dial A Flight to sell this amazing experience.

We arrived at this lovely hotel after a long day's drive through the Abel Tasman National Park and were immediately impressed with the village type setting. The Reception staff were friendly and welcoming and the apartment was spacious and well equipped.
We also enjoyed dinner in the restaurant, The Monaco Kitchen, and the food was extremely good, the staff again being very friendly and helpful. However, I don't think either the food at breakfast, or the staff at breakfast, were quite to the same standard as at dinner.
We enjoyed our short stay and would definitely stay here again, the only slight negative we encountered was when I was trying to email to sort out our booking from the UK, I received one very belligerent, bordering on rude, email from a member of the reservation team, after I pointed this out in my reply, another member of the reservation team emailed me back with a completely different approach to my query and managed to sort the situation out for us. Thankfully she did because we were at the point of cancelling our booking and staying somewhere else, which would have been a shame because in essence we were very happy with our stay at this lovely hotel.
