Views to Die For!
Daz_8on 07/09/2017 12:37The hotel is situated in a great location, less than 5minute walk from the town centre. We were pleasantly surprised to have been upgraded to a junior suite, which we found extremely spacious, clean, and very comfortable. The views of the dolomites from the room were extraordinary! The hotel is grand and sophisticated, and offers excellent choices around the hotel to sit down and have a nice relaxed drink from the bar, including an alfresco section outside that offers amazing views of the dolomites. The overall décor around the hotel is great, the hotel is clean throughout and fits the location and clientele. The only negative was that the staff at the spa/pool area (indoor only) seemed very confused when we arrived with young kids. Although it is allowed to have kids in the pool area, they weren't sure exactly what to do and say so the conversation was very confusing leaving us a little put-off going to the spa/pool area, it didn't help by having way too many rules to be able to enter the pool (for example, needing to wear hair-nets) or it may have seemed that way due to the interaction we had with the staff giving us a what felt like a "run-around", hence why the service has been rated 4. This was the only downside that I would probably not recommend to stay at the hotel with kids if you plan to use the spa/pool facilities, other than that the staff around the hotel were excellent.

and the view from window was amazing (beautiful mountains and church)
the breakfast was very good too especially the cheese selection.
nice staffs were friendly and sincerly.

WANT!! plus a zippy service in the concierge and front desk!! They need to win the hospitality award of CORTINA!! Avery well deserve!! Tasty! Menu! and tiptop dining room service!! You need to visit at least once in your life!!!

gentleBrisbaneon 30/07/2017 12:40GRAND HOTEL SAVOIA, CORTINA D' AMPEZZO, is NOT in the Tyrol/south Tyrol area, which is further west. Some reviewers have thought that Cortina d'Ampezzo is an Italian-German speaking town, but not so, nor was it in the late seventies when I first came here to ski.
The Staff of Grand Hotel Savoia speak Italian, while many speak English and other languages, so help is available in a variety of tongues. The Staff are most helpful whenever possible.
Internet can be very good but there may be difficulties so this time I bought a Sim as I was bringing two(2) devices with me. The plan plus Sim wasn't expensive at all.
The breakfast buffet is not only a delicious and substantial start to a day of action and adventure but also an opportunity to enjoy the many culinary delights which are enticingly presented for people from all walks of life. The service is excellent.
All meals and Service are further enhanced by the 5★ view!
Great hotel, but strange attitude from one staff member.

The rooms are very well appointed, the hotel is well positioned in Cortina, the breakfast was great and the staff were mostly very helpful. Our one disappointment, which prevents me from rating this hotel excellent, was a reception staff member being rather rude to a German speaking member of our group. This staff member clearly understood German but refused to speak it, and judging by the reaction of the other staff, this is a regular occurrence. This is unacceptable behavior for a luxury hotel in a dual language area where at least a third of the hotel's clientele would be German speaking.
