you arrive by linea 11 from lido di venezia, bus, ferry, bus, vaporetto (sounds complicated but is actually very easy) and ghe boat stops in front of this great hotel in the lovely city of chioggia. everything (except wifi which can be slow) is perfect, rooms, service, amenities, and of course its location. price reasonable in late season.
you can walk (or bike) through little venice, there is a round track along a smaller laguna, and you may enjoy the beaches in sottomarina, also reachable by foot. we hiked all along the beach to the spot where river brenta reaches the adriatic sea.
regret: no car rental, and probably difficult to reach the parco del delta del po..(taxi would have been expensive).

An excellent hotel in the "little Venice", has been recently modernized and looking quite good, from outside vintage given the age of the hotel founded in 1914 and very stylish and modern inside! As 5 years ago we were impressed because the quality of the service and the kindness of the staff. Very good breakfast, competent poliglot staff, I would recommend this hotel to everyone, both business people or people with a moderate budget.
The location of Grande Italia is also a privilegded one being exactly at the boat station for Venice, line 11 and the famous Ponte Vigo is at two steps. What can I say, I would return gladly every week-end and recommend it to my friends!

Great location within the quaint village. Updated room, modern, nice. Overlooking the Lagoon. Very good service. Parking can be difficult in high season. Stayed only one night, but found a very nice restaurant nearby.

Very nice, best hotel, Great location, great service, reasoniblely priced for what it is.
We had a suit with 2 bedrooms, the quality of the rooms is first class, try to get a view to the plaza or the laguna, its wonderful.
Breakfeast is served in 2nd floor, with stunning view over the main Street of Chioggia. For Italian hotel excellent Standard
I can only recommend this hotel, we had a great time there.

We had previously visited this hotel in 2004, 2006 and 2008, so wanting to stay again at the atmospheric town of Chioggia, and seeing that the Grande Italia had been luxuriously refurbished, we booked 3 nights. We were really looking forward to spending the time in one of the hotels of which we had fond memories.
On arrival we found the receptionists to be the most haughty we have ever come across. We arranged for valet parking for the second and third nights of our stay and went up to our first floor room.
At first glance the room was really beautiful, cool grey/white decor which is a wonderful foil to the bright sunlit Piazza Vigo below the room. But once we tried to settle in we found that the room seriously lacked wardrobe space, and since the bed was in an alcove between the two 'wardrobes' there was nowhere to place anything overnight (glass of water, clock etc.). And not only that, the seemingly beautiful black glass wall facing the bed, which housed the flatscreen tv, became a mirror once one was watching the tv. Does anybody really wish to watch themselves watching tv? And not only that. Once in the beautifully appointed bathroom, when one was seated on the WC one was completely reflected in the glass panel of the walk-in shower. Does anybody really wish to watch themselves on the toilet?
Breakfast is still served in the beautiful second floor room with amazing stucco works, with a lagoon/Piazza Vigo view. There is plenty of choice and space in which to enjoy it.
On the last day of our stay, in exceptional temperatures, the air conditioning in the hotel failed. It was still not repaired when we checked out - but at no point were we offered any temporary remedy - electric fans, bottles of drinking water for example. On check out the receptionist waived our parking charges in 'compensation' but did make us feel that we were at fault for accepting this.
Sorry to be so negative, but this is an honest review, as are all my reviews.
