    Vegas 2017

My family and I were very pleased with our stay at The Grandview at Las Vegas. The rooms were exactly what we expected and the amenities met with our satisfaction. We booked two 1-bedroom suites through Armed Forces Vacation Club (AFVC). The rooms were together, joined by a small foyier and were equipped with all the necessities a week-long stay would require. The rooms were clean and everything was functional. The hotel was a few miles from the Strip, but there was a casino, literally, across the street. They offered shuttles to the Strip and to local grocery shopping stores. Maid service was available, if you needed it, but for the most part we were left alone to manage our stay. Grills were also available; however, they were located in a different building than where we were staying. The pools and hot tubs were perfect and there was even a place to get sandwiches and pizzas, etc. We would definitely stay here again, should we find ourselves in Vegas again. This place is a timeshare, so throughout the week there were plenty of tours being conducted. Luckily, none of them ever interfered with our activities. As soon as the staff discovered we were AFVC members, there were no questions asked or invites offered to view their presentations, which was the greatest thing eva!! Overall, this place rocked!

The room was excellent. The one thing I would change is the coffee pot. I did not ask if I could get a keureg instead of the standard coffee pot we had. No big deal. We did have an actual fire in our building the morning we were leaving. First they gave us our $25 back that we paid when we checked in. I thought that was nice. The other, more important is during the fire evacuation, The stairwell was clogged with people and that was a major concern. The elderly people had problems getting down the stairs. I did request a room with a view of the strip, and got totally opposite.

Checked in at 3am after harrowing trip. Although I've unfortunately forgotten her name, the young lady who checked us in was very kind and helpful. This attitude was later reflected by numerous other staff members - absolutely fantastic.

We were then delighted with our beds, which were king sized and comfy, with great pillows. Black out curtains helped us sleep in late, and it was great to have separate bath and shower facilies. Presumably there were other guests staying in close proximity, but we never heard them aside from occasional mechanical noises (hot tub or washer perhaps?). I don't know whether this was due to soundproofing or the lack of children in this location, but it was great.

The closet was large enough to store our suitcases, and there was plenty of drawer space. We had no issues with the in-room safe.

The living/dining rooms were comfortable and clean. There were flat screen televisions in both the living room and the bedroom.

The elevators were very fast, and there were three of them. There's kind of a weird trash situation - a separate room near the elevators hosts a chute. I rarely visited without encountering pizza boxes clogging the chute or bags of trash around the room. This is not on the hotel, however - this is due to guests who aren't using common sense.

We didn't use any of the numerous pools or other amenities, but we did attempt to use the wifi. It's pretty bad. There were numerous times that it wasn't even strong enough to successfully pull in my email, which is both frustrating and inexcusable in this day and age. The televisions get a large variety of channels, but there is no indication of what they are, so it's trial and error. This, too, was frustrating, particularly since most channels periodically blacked out due to lack of an adequate signal.

I rarely returned to my room without finding papers inviting me to thinly veiled sales presentations, and I had two phone calls giving me the “good news” that there were prizes awaiting me. Not being interested in purchasing a timeshare, I disregarded all of these and had no problems with pushy sales people, overlong tours, etc. (People, if you choose to pursue "free" breakfasts, prizes, etc., please be aware that you will be getting a sales presentation. If you don't want the presentation and tour, just politely decline.)

The property is way off the Strip and downtown, but it is an easy walk to South Point Casino next door. South Point is huge, with a movie theater, bowling alley and equestrian center. A lot of locals gamble here because of low buy-ins at the tables and loose slots. There are more than ten restaurants covering every price point, including one that is open all night, and we enjoyed numerous excellent meals there. We were more than satisfied by the gambling action, and only bothered venturing to the Strip once.

Since the free trips to Walmart are early in the morning, we bypassed them and took Lyft to the grocery store at a more civilized time. We also employed Lyft for a trip to Caeser's Palace and to the airport. All trips were less than $20, and the cars were very prompt with pick-ups.

Two burners on our stove weren't working. Since I was only attempting to heat water for tea and wasn't intrested in serious cooking, it wasn't a problem.

What WAS a problem, however, was the fact that our tub yielded up nasty clumps of black goo when we turned on the water jets. In my opinion, this is something that housekeeping should be checking at least once a month. It wouldn't keep me from staying there again, but it was a definite downer in an otherwise excellent stay.

Weeks to Points-wow what a difference

I loved the property the staff was so nice. Made friends very easily and now am an owner, yes there are sales but they are not pushy and they truly care. I met two that i was particularly fond of, and they went out of their way to make me feel like i got a good deal and i did, i went from biennial ownership to annual ownership.

Its right next to SouthPoint Casino and has many pools as well as hot tubs, a fitness area plenty of barbq's to cook out on a washer and dryer in each unit as well as large whirlpool tub in the bedroom, double vanities.

I hope to visit often and send friend there as well to experience what i did, thank you again for a great trip.

    Just nothing special

Did an exchange with RCI for this week and the reviews were so good that my expectations were set way too high. The reception was disappointing. The WiFi is spotty. The transportation is hourly and expensive.
I was on the lumpiest cot I ever encountered, springs coming right through. The bed was like sleeping in a donut.
Remember that the location is about 10 miles south of the Strip; so it’s about 20 bucks, just to Uber from the airport!
