Nice enough but could have been better

Nice building with decent-sized car park. We thought our booking included breakfast, but were told on arrival that this would be an extra £9.50 per person per day.

The room itself was quite large, bit surprisingly shabby. Patches of unpainted walls and some peeling parts in the bathroom. Bed was also very squeaky and very thin pillows.

We stayed here for 2 nights in a lovely clean room overlooking Salisbury Cathedral. The room was cleaned each morning and the food on offer was superb. Very reasonably priced and the staff were all helpful and friendly. Lots to do in the area and all the information available at the front of the hotel. Very quirky building with plenty of free parking. We will go there again and recommend it if you're staying in the area.

For the price paid I was expecting great things from this hotel and unfortunately it didn’t meet expectations.

The house/hotel itself you can see once was beautiful, the setting and view across the river is stunning. Unfortunately the rooms and some of the staff let it down.

We had to move from our first room as the shower was broken and filthy. Second room was much nicer but the walls are all paper thin, so sleep was a problem with the next door room up chatting and playing music until I finally banged on the wall at 2am.

I was certain I had breakfast included when I booked but found it later to be £9.50 a head... don’t bother, it wasn’t nice at all.

Communal areas of the hotel are dated with loose wires hanging from the ceiling.

The manager was very nice and put a fire on while we sat in the lounge but the rest of the staff were brisk and rude, to get a drink at the bar they acted as if they were doing you a favour!!

Our friends room was so dirty and broken they had their stay half price after complaining.

In summary, hotel needs an overhaul, a clean and some friendly team members - I won’t go back.

Basic ok for overnight work stay

Room 14 very dark and depressing. Staying overnight for a work commitment the next day. Travelling alone, on arrival given a room with a 4 poster bed, because the room was so dark ( no ceiling lights) made even worse by the heavy drapes around the 4 poster. The hotel had tilted all the lamp shades to allow more light to escape. Higher wattage bulbs would have been better. This is not a room if you need to do any work. I asked if I could move rooms but was told only a basic double . Which the receptionist very willingly agreed to show me. Room 13 had no bath ( just a shower) and was basic, however I noticed there was no shower head it was just a pipe . I felt showering in it would be what I can only imagine to be like using a hose pipe so I opted to remain in the dark room.

See attached photos for the shower head in the room I did not to stay in , I refrained from using it opted for a bath. Shower curtain rings missing very old.

The hotel is tired and could do with a refurbishment. But clean sheets and a very comfortable bed, quiet no noise disturbances and plenty of parking available.

However it is not a hotel I would want to stay in for a weekend away with my husband.

Location for the hospital good

Conveniently placed with friendly staff.

We stayed for one night and found the staff helpful and friendly. The evening meal was good. The hotel is conveniently placed just a short walk into the city centre and had ample parking. Our room had a beautiful view across the water meadows to the cathedral. Our only suggestion would be that the reception area needed some decorating and updating.
