Amazing food

Visited meli palace hotel in the second week in October.
Hotel was beautiful, right on the beach and lobby areas bar etc kept spotless.
Location is isolated but it was only a short taxi ride into Sissi where there are a few bars.
Rooms were very standard compared to expectations but very clean. Balcony was also tiny only enough for two people to sit on.
Bar area was very small and played no music but you can sit outside at the seating areas with drinks.
Pool was always packed. Only once were we able to get loungers but the beach was right at the back of the hotel and there was always plenty of loungers free there.
Kiosk was very over priced but the lady in the kiosk was lovely, always pleasant and chatty.
Pool bar served decent drink and hardly any ques plus there was a self service beer pump and a self service fizzy drinks machine (all branded soft drinks). The pool bar food was terrible though. Food had swarms of wasps all over it so never ate anything there and the selection of food at the bar was very poor.
Evening entertainment was very poor also. There was a magic show one night just beside the beach and one other night there was a band playing (who were very good) but they weren't on long enough.
Food and drinks.... I left the best until last. The food was amazing, served three times a day and for quite long periods of time. We never had to use the pool bar anyway as we were so full from our three sittings at the buffet restaurant per day.
Plenty of pasta, hot dishes and desserts. I am very fussy with meat and had absolutely no complaints when it came to any of the meals.
In all a great all inclusive but let down by the evening entertainment only.
I WAS EXPECTED MORE

Hello again! September and I decide to visit and pass 7 days to Crete. For my trip I choose Meli palace which located at Lassithi area in a isolated area very close to Sissi fisherman village.First of all you must know that there is nothing near the hotel. That means you must rent a car if you want to visit and explore the island. The nearest city is Sissi about 2 1/2 Km where you can find some nice entertainment(bar's, restaurants fish taverns etc.).But also in a close distance, by a car, is Mallia!!!The time that I visit hotel I found plenty of space to parking my rental car.You can not loose the way to the hotel if you are looking carefully for the signs which are at all the way begining from the old national road just outside Sissi. The ladies at the reception were very polite and helpful as all the staff.
The hotel is an old one.Constructed like a copy of ancient Mallia palace before at least 40 years!!!Thats why the first name of the hotel was ''Hellenic Pallace''.The public areas are nice and clean. There are two bars, the main next to the lobby and the pool bar(Nissi) which located under the area of main pool and very close to the beach. Our room was located at ground floor and it was a beachfront one.Nice view very close to the beach but they must refurbished immediately! The small refrigerator was out of order but they replace it immediately after my call to the reception. The food and the beverages are plenty but don't expect the highest quality(Don't forget it's an all inclusive hotel)The beach was clean but a little rocky, that means better to have some silicone shoes for the beach. There are lifeguards at pool and beach area also! There is a kiosk at the main pool were you can change your beach towels everyday if you want(the rules of the hotel tell that you must change it every second day).If you are from those who passing a lot of hours to the beach you must that you must get up early and put your towels to a sunbed(that is against rules) but is the only way to have one. There is only one pool for the adults big, very deep, about 3 mt the deepest, and very clean. There is another one for the childs next to the pool bar.The entairtainment was ok.There are to courts one for mini soccer and the other for tennis and located behide the parking area close to main entrance. Also there is a beach volley area at front of the beach behind the amphitheatre!I dont know if the wifi is free only at the public areas but at the beachfront rooms you can have free!At lobby area you can find a rental car office. At ground floor, at the area of spa, there is a Mini Market, a gym with charge and also an area for kids. Many thanks to Meli palace staff!!!!

Great place for grown ups as well as for kids, excellent services and intimate. Very good place to relax with great food variety. It is clean and has spa services. The beach is clean with sand and stones at the entry in the sea. With the local bus, there is cheap connection to Heraklion.
Wish to return here again

It is beautiful and quite perfect place for family holidays. Everything is made for guests pleasure. Personnel well trained and always ready to help. Management team is available to answer any questions. Locations are clean and safe. My especial respect to the restaurant team that staying calm and peace to my little boy that was not always in good mood. Mr. Michalis is the best manager I ever met in hotels. Hospitality is at the highest level. Wish to be there sometime again.

After a busy summer my wife and I wanted just to chill out and relax in a hotel which understands those needs. I'm pleased to say that The Meli Palace met our expectations and we thoroughly enjoyed ourselves.
We had 10 days of better than expected weather and although the hotel was quite busy there was no shortage of facilities.
Special mention must be made of the staff led by The Service Manager (in our opinion "Mr Meli") Michalis Fourakis - He is the consummate professional who knows the balance between tact and efficiency. However, without exception, all the staff were pleasant and courteous. When my wife owned up to saying her back muscle problem had flared up before we went on holiday an immediate visit to the Spa put her back on track. When the Rep never turned up to sort out a trip to Heraklion and Knossos the Hotel reception staff stepped in and sorted it for us.
i would have had no hesitation in awarding a 5 star rating if the room we had was anything like those in the promotional photos but it was clean and functional, and my philosophy is that we don't notice it so much when we're asleep !!
