Historic Inn

We enjoyed our stay at this location. It is a historic inn rich with history. If you like history and the thought of who walked the same halls as you then you should give it a try. Our room was clean and had two queen beds that had quilts on them. There was a Keurig coffee maker with a carafe of water and everything you would need to make coffee. The room included a hairdryer too. Made to order breakfast was included and the service was wonderful. Our waitress, Megan, took good care of us and made sure we were happy. When you check in, you make a reservation for the time you would like to eat breakfast. We came down a little early and the hostess was very accommodating. Staff was very helpful and polite. Charming inn and we will be back.
Old hotel that needs a refresh

We booked this hotel after reading reviews on Trip Advisor and really thought that we were getting a great, old hotel. The hotel is old but I did not find it very charming. Our room was in desperate need of a facelift, as the carpet was really old and there were three different styles of wallpaper on the walls. We could never get cold water to come out of the facet, in the sink or in the bathtub, and there was just really a funky smell in the hallway. We did have breakfast included in our rate and it was pretty average. I do think this hotel has the potential to be a great hotel, but it just needs to be updated, while keeping the character of the hotel. I will say that the mattress and bed linens were really nice, so that was a pleasant surprise.
High price for average hotel with bad attitude

We were driving by on route to Boone, saw the Green Park had a sign advertising "live music tonight" - so pulled in, they had room available and we decided to stay. Music part was great - 2 man bluegrass band playing outside under the veranda.
Hotel certainly has character - appears they are re-doing an old structure. We used the stairs to get to our room as the elevator appeared ready to give out at any moment. Room was clean, decent - crooked floors and all. Crowded little bathroom, but everything worked.
Disappointing part was the lounge - the gentleman serving made it very apparent he did not like or want customers, and would be glad when they were gone. Did not appear to think much of his co-workers/cooking staff either. There was a lady behind the bar with him - but she appeared equally dis-interested. The meal was ok.
Breakfast was provided - must be busy at some times of the year, as breakfast reservations are made by time ( there were two other tables occupied when we ate) - very attentive service there, although the first couple of menu choices were not available.
Price for room reflects the location - a rustic looking hotel on a busy hiway in what I presume is a busy tourist area at certain times. Overall we thought it mediocre at best.
Loads of character and charm

This hotel simply oozes character and charm and is a welcome change from standardized hotel chains. We had a room in the old section which was spacious and comfortable. The bathroom was small, but this is to be expected in a timber building that is over 100 years old and did not present a problem..
Although the room is not soundproof, all guests are made aware of this and kept their TV and voices low, so we had no issue with noise ( our room was not facing the road).
We stayed over a weekend and ate in the dining room. This beautiful period room opened on to the main foyer/lounge area and, apart from providing a lovely aspect, allowed us to enjoy the piano player. The food was very reasonably priced - most mains were under $20. The pork chop on sweet potato apple mash with peach chutney was particularly memorable.Service was incredibly slow, but as we weren't going anywhere this did not trouble us. In fact, the food was so good we ate here both nights!
It is not every day you get the chance to stay in the same hotel as Nixon, Hoover, Coolidge and Eleanor Roosevelt!
The Green Park Inn wonder

This was one of the most unexpected, wonderful, stays I have had in a hotel in a long time. Having had bad experiences in the past, this one far exceeded everything i could have hoped for. A great find while on the road. A must stay.
