Well maintained rooms, friendly and well mannered caretaker, free wifi, best food, book your breakfast and dinner without any hesitancy, they use best masalas.
They have a beautiful garden, the views from balconies are best, dense forest at back side and mountains on the front, good for bird watching.
You can visit spice garden just next to the place.
A place is 10 km from Munnar city, if you have your own car then no worries, you can also use private vehicles to and from this place.

We are still at the resort, enjoying our last day here, and checking out tomorrow. This place is so praiseworthy that I just couldn't stop myself from writing a review while I'm still holidaying. It's that one place in the middle of a forest where you'll have the best time with nature, birds and yourself. All the while I was here I forgot all my worries, all tensions, that busy, polluted and populated life of a city and just loved my decision of having chosen to be at this home stay.
If you are the one who loves nature, birds, rains, trees and lots and lots of them, then this is where you need to be. I fell in love with this place for it offered me so much peace and relaxation and homeliness. It's located far away from those noisy roads of Munnar town and you can hardly hear any sounds of vehicles; though the main road is right outside the resort and there is public transport available every 15-20 minutes. It's also located just next to a spice garden so you can imagine dense greens all around.
The area within the premises is next level. The plantation has varieties of fruit trees, vines and spices; I could find a lots of papaya, coconut, and mango trees, banana, fig, sapodilla, cherry tomatoes, rambutan, raspberry, jackfruit, pineapple, water apple trees within. We were served some of these fresh fruits directly from their garden. The flowering plants are also in great numbers and right from the reception through passage to the rooms you can find a plethora of flower plants planted all around. And there's also this little koi fish pond at the entrance. It was so mesmerising to take a walk around this resort, I spent most time capturing the voices of birds and captured many many photos. We also got the best view from our balcony as it directly faces thick forest, and a huge mountain right above the forest trees, that is most times covered with clouds. The beauty of this place is inexplicable. You must stay here to be able to experience it.
The owners are very warm and made sure we had a pleasant stay. The staff too here is so friendly, we almost felt at home. He helped us plan our tour around and served us very well. And the food is highlight. It was so delicious and home-like that we decided to have it here every night instead of dining at the town. It was most surprising when we learnt that the owner herself cooks for her guests, and literally, we got any dish of our desire. She is the best cook. All in all we were served very well and had a very satisfactory stay. Do book this if you like to have a private time with nature and with yourself.

Green shades is 13 KM far from munnar town and located on the national highway. I stayed for couple of days in Munnar but then booked this place for the third night as I thought it may provide some peaceful stay with good views of the jungle and hills. The place turned out to be more than my expectations. We had booked two rooms and luckily the owner gave us the rooms at the end overlooking quite dense jungle.
Rooms were very clean, cozy and well maintained. However we hardly stayed inside the rooms. As we had our own huge balcony space available for only these rooms. We spent most of the time sitting in this area, enjoying watching variety of plants trees, bird watching and listening to never stopping birds chirping. It gives the feeling of staying in the midst of the jungle.
As it is a house stay and it was Christmas time with staff on leave, room service was little slow. You have to place lunch/dinner order in advance. As we arrived late afternoon, we could not get lunch. However we order the dinner and it was served in time. Food was of good quality and taste. So I suggest you place your order well before you plan to reach the place. We loved the breakfast.
The house has a beautiful garden with variety of flowers. It was a nice stroll in the garden observing these beautiful plants. Right outside the house is a famous spice garden.
Over all an amazing experience away from the hustle bustle of the city being so close to nature.

We booked Green Shades last minute as we didn't want to stay in the town. Located about 10km from the town of Munnar Green Shades is located just off the main road. It consists of very comfortable rooms behind the owner's house. The gardens and location were absolutely beautiful, and it was incredibly peaceful. Sangtosh (I can't quite remember his name) was very helpful and friendly and provide lots of local info, made our stay very pleasant. Dinner and breakfast was home cooked and really delicious, some of the nicest food we had. This is not a hotel as such however, and some people have mentioned they found the set up strange, e.g. Eating in a small dining room room by ourselves and lack of communal space. This was not an issue for us as it was very friendly and homely, and two nights peace was honestly what we needed. An added bonus was that the house is located right next to a small working spice garden where we took a tour and where he spices were used by the staff at Green Shades. Really liked it here, would definitely come again, wouldn't recommend if you are looking for a standard hotel or party experience, but a peaceful place to relax surrounded by stunning landscapes.

I stayed with my family for two days in green shades . Location maintaince owners house in front is very good .Best part was Mr. Santosh one man Army provided every thing we want. Food was very tasty wich they served us.
