What People are saying

Great solution for a wonderful holidays

Antony Pon 22/03/2017 10:35

It's the sixth year that i come in this hotel for my holidays. Every year better. Great availability and professional service. Great animation team. Great shuttle service to and from the slopes. Plan of excursions for guests not skiers. Great variety and quality of food. Great restaurant and bar service.

Fantastic Stay

b10ython 20/03/2017 22:32

This was our second visit to Corvara but our first stay at Hotel Grief. The hotel is in a quiet peaceful location with a ten minute walk to the village center and Boe / Col Alt lifts. The clientele appear multi national, mostly Italians, Germans, Dutch, some Russian and English.
Our room was very spacious, with more than ample storage for all our ski gear. Very clean throughout with bath/shower and plentiful toiletries. The came in really handy and there were ample power sockets plus a small flat screen TV.
The quality and choice of food was excellent. Cereals, cold meats, cheeses, pastries for breakfast and traditional local five course dinner. Buffet style salad bar and starter menu. No complaints with any of the food. Even something for the fussy eater.
The ski room utilized open ski racks and air driers for ski boots. Quite congested and crowded but did the job.
The minibus shuttle between hotel and Boe lift was excellent. We probably didn't have to wait longer than five minutes at any point during our week. The drivers are great, doing everything for you, including lifting skis into ski rack and opening/closing the doors.
After skiing we used the pool which was great. Extra towels were provided and we had bathrobes from our room. Swimming caps were mandatory but can be purchased on site for €2.50. There is also a spa/sauna with massage possibilities at extra charge.
This was our third successive trip to Dolomite Ski area and second stay in Corvara. I personally prefer Corvara over Selva because there are more access points into the ski circuit, so less congestion during the morning start. In addition, Corvara has it's own extensive local area of pistes, ideal for bad weather days when you don't want to venture too far.
Corva is on the Sella Rona circuit and provides easy access to Marmolada glacier and also Armentarola for the Lagazuoi tour.
There are restaurants all over the mountain providing an excellent range and quality of food and beverages at reasonable cost. We found all toilets to be very very clean which is a refreshing experience compared with some of resorts.
The pistes are always very well maintained, the local culture is great and the people are friendly.

Great skiing resort

Spent 8 days in Hotel Greif, situated just below the beautiful Sassongher mountain. The stay was great, great area for skiing, fantastic hotel and fantastic staff. We really enjoyed our stay there. Everything worked perfectly and I can only resommend this hotel.

Distance from ski lifts not a problem.

We are 2 mature couples, booking independently. We had superior double rooms which were very comfortable, spacious, quiet, with views over Sassongher mountain. The hotel is a good 10 minurtes' walk from the lifts but there is a good navette service, and excellent ski/boot storage. The staff were very helpful - one of our party has wheat intolerance and this was managed well - our waiter, Alberto, pointed out suitable dishes every day. We felt the food let the place down rather, but presumably there are budget restrictions. The buffet first courses were good but the later options were uninspiring and, we felt, not cooked freshly (the grilled tuna had to be sent back as it was overlooked, but the replacement was perfect) ; breakfast was always the same, with hot drinks from machine; hot items not cooked to order so a bit sad; yogurt/fruit/healthy options and cakes available, but the fruit is not very interesting (if you want banana with breakfast, grab it at dinner and save it till morning!). Good wine list.

The staff deserve a big thank you! They provided a warm welcome, and the animation team in particular worked hard to create a friendly atmosphere during the evening, and were available during the day for free ski guiding etc. We have to mention Patrizio, who guided us safely round the Sellaronda tour, adding extra diversions that we would have never have negotiated otherwise. Thanks to his friendly encouragement, we joined in some evening activities, which made it all the more fun.

Lovely pool area; a nice feature is the domed glass ceiling, perfectly placed for view of Sassongher mountain!

The hotel attracts groups, families, couples. Italians and other Europeans exclusively during our week.

Well managed recovery

Had a first negative experience when we were told our 2 rooms were not ready when checking in at 4.15 pm, with the lack of a smile nor an apology.

However, the hotel manager Mr Brieda recovered our first disappointment by clarifying expectations and making the rest of our stay up the the level you would expect from a 4-star hotel.

We stayed in the newer part of the hotel, with Superior rooms of good standard and very clean. Daily room service was excellent, maybe noise insulation from the corridors could have been better as it can get noisy certain times of the day.

Free wifi which is fast anytime except 16.30-19.30 when everybody else is connected.

The staff were kind and attentive, in particular the restaurant team headed by a qualified Maitre'D

The restaurant was quite good. Menu included a rich and varied buffet which changed daily and a la carte dishes, always including a vegetarian alternative. We were satisfied with all meals, excluding the breakfast cappuccino which, as at many hotels, is served from an automatic machine that dilutes any taste of coffee.

The wine list is excellent, as well as the courtesy and knowledge in suggesting selecting suitable wines.

Frequent and effective shuttle service to the slopes, appreciated.

Pool, saunas, spa massages etc all good

All in all, a good stay. And it's up to the staff that made it happen
