Great for price

Although the bathrooms were shared, this was a great place to stay. They have sinks in the bedrooms, which was nice. They have a kitchen so you can cook if you want to save money, or if you are like me (I have Ulcerative Colitis) and can't eat out at restaurants. This was an amazing option. And if you don't want to cook and want to stay in the room or the building, they have a restaurant down stairs (pizza and other items) and they will deliver it to your room.

Wonderful hotel above the excellent restaurant

Tekkai01 on 20/08/2017 05:31

This place worth every penny I paid! Located 15 minutes from the Old Town, this hotel offers a very convinent location. It is very easy to get there by bus, since the bus stop of 807 route is only 1 minute away from the hotel. The check-in is in the bar below the hotel and it is really fast. The staff is friendly. My room with a queen-sized bed was clean and spacious. The bed was comfortable to sleep. The shared bathrooms were always free except for the early mornings, but even then it was not long to wait for them, since there are 3 of them for only 8 rooms. The shared kitchen was well equipped with stove, fridge, microwave and coffee maker, and there was also an option to have a breakfast or a dinner in the bar below, which has very good prices compared to the Old Town. The wi-fi connection was free and stable. The hotel is surrounded by the pharmacy Jean Coutu and the store Couche-Tard, where anyone can buy discounted tickets for the bus. I recommend this hotel to those who are looking for a cheap, but comfortable stay.

Not a good place to stay at all!

Travel_REDS on 17/01/2017 03:57

First of all, they don’t have parking! They have road side parking for the bar but not for the hotel! That’s false advertising!

Second, our personal belongings (used pajamas and used shoes) was stolen during our stay. Thank goodness we didn’t leave any important things, ‘cos god knows what will happen to them. Mind you, our stuff was in the right places. The pajamas were in the drawer and the shoes were placed properly under the table. And we were told that the cleaning lady said the shoes were in the trash bin that’s why they threw it out!?!? Oddly enough, my pajamas were given back to us in the morning - in a plastic bag, which was just plain bizarre! What kind of a hotel business is this?! Who takes personal belongings out from a customer’s room?!? And I’m pretty sure that if we did not report our missing items, nobody will give me my pajamas back and nobody will even know about the missing shoes.

This whole entire thing sounds ridiculous, I know, and upper management did not even do anything to solve our case, but instead, they just keep blaming us. And I'm the one that kept calling them, when they told me they're going to call me back. Until now, I have not heard from them! So I'm just letting everyone know to not waste your time and money here!

Seriously, don't go to this place!

Small basic place for sightseeing, great breakfasts

The Gite was a really nice quiet place, with basic amenities and acceptable cleanliness. The room is exactly as you see in the picture, with a small sink, towels, dresser, tv set and air conditioning. The bathrooms were directly across the hall each with a toilet, sink, and shower and were perfectly clean. There were several refrigerators in the kitchen and eating area, and everything was clean.

The location was unbeatable. It was in a nice residential area near some small colleges about 20 minutes by car from the old city. It was also 5 minutes from a major highway, which made it easy to go to the national park and to Montreal.

The best thing, though, was the breakfast. You get complimentary breakfast at the restaurant downstairs and it was delicious. Service was very friendly and accommodating.

I did have a few problems with the Gite. The first was the inability to cancel one night about a week ahead of time because I had prepaid through Expedia. The problem was really Expedia's fault because they did not adequately explain the difference in cancellation policy when you prepay vs when you reserve only (I chose to prepay when I couldn't see a major difference between one and the other). Anyway, the second problem was a miscommunication about how to get in if I arrived after 11PM, their closing time and the reason I had been trying to cancel the first night. Between a bit of back and forth in English and French, I understood that the keys would be left in a box for me so I could get in whenever I arrived and then check in the next morning. However, I missed the fact that the keys would be in a restaurant that did not stay open all night, so when I arrived at 3AM there was no one to hand me the keys. No one to answer the phone. So I had to find another place to stay for the next couple of hours. But other than that, I had a great experience there!

Nice, clean small pension in Saint Sacremont District

larryyasner on 30/07/2016 21:28

Stayed for 4 nights in a clean, small room with queen sized bed, wash basin, TV/Cable/WIFI. There are 3 full bathrooms shared by about 7 rooms so there never was a problem waiting for the bathroom. There is a full kitchen right in front of the rooms. Room cleaning was done daily. The airconditioning was a big plus as the temperature was in the 90's the entire week. It is a $15 taxi ride downtown, $20 to the lower old town. The front desk will call Quebec Taxi for you. Big plus, the Ryna restaurant is connected and open for BLD. A reasonably priced alternative to downtown.
