We stayed here in November and saw the room before we booked it so we knew what to expect from the Lighthouse/Hai An Hotel. This is a very good guest house/hotel with a strong price/quality/location ratio. Remark: The new rooms are funny with one side consisting fully out of glass but the curtains do their job very well so do not worry. These rooms are very clean and the bed is really good and soft which is quite rare when we talked to other guests and travellers in Vietnam. The airco is working perfectly and the bathroom with the tiles is very well done. The staff we met, did not speak english (at all), but google translate will be your intermediary during your stay. They can also help you in finding a motorbike. Overall this is a very good stay in Con Son/Con Dao for those who value very good basics, but do not expect to much frills.

Re-branded as the Lighthouse Boutique Hotel. Modern, clean rooms and very affordable. Great location near the market, as well as the best Western restaurants on the island. The nearest beach is a 15 minute walk away as well. Friendly and accommodating staff, though only a couple speak some English.
Only minor grievance regards the housekeeping - we stayed for 5 nights and the room could have been more thoroughly cleaned. The beds were made, but no linens changed during our stay and we had to ask for more soap/shampoo as it was not restocked. However, these could most likely addressed if housekeeping was asked directly.
Hotel charges 100,000 dong/day for motorbike rentals, which is very reasonable. Highly recommended for a stay in Con Son.

Ok, also the only place that I've stayed on Con Dao......but I have stayed in lots of hotels and this is a good one!
Now called The Lighthouse....
Recently re-done at a guess, the rooms are spotlessly clean and the bed is extremely comfortable. Air con is quiet and effective and the shower room is large, clean and everything works. Slightly odd in that one wall in each room is a full length window but don't be put off, there are thick curtains and security is good. Small fridge to keep your night-caps cool....
Internet is good even in the front terrace area.
The people who run the place are very approachable and helpful. There with the maps and scooter hire this morning in a matter of minutes.
Stay here, you'll be writing a good review in no time!

The hotel is now called "The Lighthouse" and is run by two charming Vietnamese ladies with great English.
Rooms are straightforward but done very well, with the bathrooms in the rooms at the back particularly nice.

You should call in advance and the hotel arranged a shared pick up from the airport at 50.000vnd a person. The hotel is clean, cheap and centrally located. Room was spacious, had an air conditioned, a TV and a mini fridge. They rent motorbikes and scooters for reasonable rates. Just spent 2 days on Con Dao at the Hai An. But it's the staff that make this hotel such a wonderful place to stay. They are helpful, cheerful and always willing to help. Definitely come back again and Con Dao is such a great place whatever the weather highly recomment staying as long as you can.
