I travelled to Durban on business and was booked into the Hampshire Hotel. It is located next to the N2 close to the Ballito offramp and I was put in a room overlooking and open field.
The hotel is very comfortable with 2 super king size beds and a full bathroom.
The room is airconditioned and has a fair size LCD TV with the normal hotel package viewing option.
The restaurant area is fairly bland and overlooks the street. The bar area is located in the restaurant area as well.
Breakfast was ok with a fair selection of food. What I did not like was that the cold meats were polony slices... I would've expected a hotel which projects itself as does the Hampshire to have a better food selection.
Overall my stay was pleasant and in my opinion worth the money, but I would say that it is more suited to business trips

area was safe and cool ,good for outing ,relaxing ,good for business trips and vacation, good for couples and family holidays ,room are top class matching world standard ,clean and enough space to move around inside the rooms ,very friendly and helpful staff ,I met one very helpful lady at the reception Nomkhosi Mchunu who was willing to assist and made me felt at home.Well done Nomkhosi we need people like you in businesses.

Booked 5 rooms at the Hampshire Hotel for family and friends to attend a function in Ballito. What a dismal disappointment. The reception was efficient, but after that the service was atrocious. There is no separate lounge area to relax and have a drink. The bar service was non existent, it took over an hour for 2 snack meals to be prepared and the breakfast was not even worth a mention. Won't be back.

His hotel is more suited to business travelers. We were not happy with the perfume that permeated the whole hotel. In all our extensive travels to the Middle and Far East never have we been over whelmed by the room fragrance. Strongly suggest you rethink this one.

It's a typical hotel. The staff is friendly and warm. It's great for two or three nights. Don't bring a toddler though because the walls are thin. There's a shopping centre a stone throw away and a Virgin Active a jog away for you fitness junkies.
