Never again! Fire safety issues!

I stayed at this hotel a year ago and, at the time, found it to be a very good hotel, as you can see from my previous review. I returned this year and the experience was so bad - even scary - that unless I hear that major changes have been made, I won't be staying here again. In fact, the experience was so much trouble that I feel as though it is a brand-wide problem and I won't be using the brand again.
If you read any of my reviews, you can see the things that I look for in a hotel. I won’t waste time with listing all those things here because there are two things that I look for that this hotel fails to achieve and because of it, I will not be staying here again on what will likely be frequent trips to the area.
The first is, “Is its safe?” Usually by that I mean security issues. Does it appear that my person and property will be secure or not? Here it is a matter of fire safety. I tried to use some of the electrical outlets in the walls and three of them were very loose, so much so that the outlet moved around, disconnecting the light attached to it when I tried to plug something in it. I could not plug two things (their lamp, my computer) into one because it was so loose that it would pull the outlet away so neither worked. One other light was not working, so I reached down and pushed the plug, found the outlet loose and then after a “crackle,” the light came on. The possibility of an electrical short and fire concern me. That’s not a chance worth taking.
Second, after an hour of trying to access the internet using my Hilton Honors, I gave up. What they want is for you to sign in and pay a charge for internet access but supposedly if you are a Hilton Honors member, you get free internet. Well, it would not log in, did not recognize my password, would not reset the password, timed out repeatedly, and once cleared the screen of even the possibility of entering an Honors number. I have not had this issue before. I doubt it was specific to this particular hotel since it is a national website issue but it was highly annoying. I gave up on getting internet access while I was here and was never able to do so.
In addition, the booking process has become very complex. The price advertised on the opening page is nowhere actually available and the difference is significant (and not related to taxes which are added later). It appears they are using demand pricing - in a recent experience with this brand, several of us were staying there and booking about the same time and the prices were all over the map. If that's what they want to do, it's their privilege but it's not for me. I want a clear, stable price for a room and there are still brands that offer that. It is to those I will look.
I stayed a hotel that is generally considered to be lesser in quality than a Hampton the night before in a different area and it was much, much better. There were no issues with the plentiful outlets and quick and easy internet access. This unstable pricing and nickel and diming people to death for internet service is not appealing and affects my choice of this brand, and my recommendation to my client about hotel accommodations for myself and others for the future. The safety issue puts the final nail in the coffin. What happened to quality maintenance?

The room is clean and comfortable, I always book the whirlpool king the bathroom is clean and well stocked. The front desk staff is welcoming and very customer service oriented. Coffee is always hot and plentiful. Very good complementary wifi speed. USB ports for device charging are on both nightstands and at the work desk. Breakfast area is clean and well maintained and even has some healthier choices for hot breakfast like oatmeal, fruit and turkey bacon with a variety of eggs - today I had a western omelette. I love reading the local news paper at breakfast, so homey.

We almost always select a Hampton Inn as our choice lodging facility. I will have to say we were very pleased with the lodging and the staff. The morning breakfast was excellent, the food was very fresh and very tasty. We highly recommend selecting this Hampton Inn if you are looking for lodging in Washington, NC.

Hotel was clean, stayed here but seriously thinking about the new Fairfield across the street. Rates for the new hotel are about the same. When we come back, probably will stay at the new hotel as qwe are starting to switch over to bein Marriott people instead of Hilton people. We will see. This Hampton is getting dated, needs some major updating soon to keep up with the times. Seems the help really like sitting in the back out of view on the 3-11 shift, have yet to see anybody on the 11-7 shift, coffee is luke warm at best.

Hotel is in a good location for Greenville activities, but showing its age. Light's in room did not work right and bathroom not as clean as I would like. The staff was very friendly, the breakfast was not well stocked when I went though, but was quickly restocked when I went up to get another item.
