Super fast check-in even without a reservation! Within a few short minutes I had my room card and a solid plan for what to do in Liverpool over the next 2 days. It didnt feel like the stock standard speil that one usually gets when checking in. Shout out to Amber for starting my liverpool visit on a high!
4 bed dorm is pretty decent as well, bathrooms are massive and clean.

For the price, it's ok.

So, the bed, pillows and sheets were actually very comfy. Breakfast surprisingly nice! Very good coffee too. And warm shower... BUT, if you book it at the last moment like I did and pay a little more, things get disappointing: rooms are old, lockers are broken, doors aren't opening easy, toilet could be better for a 14 people room. So it depends. If you pay cheap, it's ok. If you pay more, be prepared. Other then that, it os very well located! Easy to walk to the center. And the cleaning guy this morning was super nice.

Stayed 1 night

Pretty awful. Stayed in a private room which needed repainting. Beds were old there was a sheet of paper taped to the light covering a green light on the ceiling. Along with cobwebs. The paint was old and peeling, single glazed windows and no hair dryer which caught us out. The desk in the room was the old school desks. The staff were nice. But at the price why complain. ( note to managment dont say you will try work on my comments because its the same comments people make here and get the same response and same results you ignore them.)

Pleasent

I was well welcomed on arrival, taken details, and upgraded from a 14 bed room to a 4 bed room.

The room and beds were clean and organised, if only a but small (could use with pull-drawers under the beds to allow users to organised their stuff rather than having everyrhing lying around). The room was also warm.
I would suggest staff installing some hook hangers for coats, etc.

The bathroom was also clean and the shower worked fine with soap provided.

Breakfast was basic continental buffet, and it was generous.

For a £10 stay, this was great value.

Nothing to complain about.

It's a hostel. It's perfectly ok.

I wanted to go away with a friend on the cheap so I booked Hatter's because it is definitely on the affordable side of things. It's housed in a grand old building near the centre of Liverpool, and the reception and bar area both give a great first impression.

Oddly, reception ask for photo id, and as I don't drive and don't carry my passport around with me, I had none. Luckily, the receptionist was fine with me showing bank cards. No silly rules will deter me.

The room was basic, though Hatter's have done some cute things by writing over pretty much every surface witty remarks and so on. A picture of a sheep being given electro-shock therapy is above the bed. They have their reasons I suppose. The mattresses have seen better days, probably better decades, and my friends mattress had a spot where any support had given up the ghost so it sort of sagged. Remarkably, I slept well both nights despite the mattresses, the single glazing, the intensely hot radiator we couldn't seem to control and the seagulls kicking off in the middle of the night.

Other residents were quiet. For a hostel, this was remarkable, and even more so for a weekend!

In the morning you'll be confronted by the twin horrors of the shower and breakfast. The shower is a dreadful affair which spurts out sometimes hot, often freezing water at you. It's like a hose that juts out of the wall. The breakfast I had was a hybrid of bread and toast. If you put bread through the machine once it's hot bread. If you put it through twice, it's burnt toast. Other options are available, though for tea and coffee, real milk is beyond your dreams.

The hostel has some resident cats. This is a major plus.
