My 50th birthday visit

Excellent rooms kept to a high standard of decor and cleanliness, food and service again a very high standard. Golf courses in fantastic condition Hawkstone course is my personal favourite, would like to thank all the staff for making me and brother in law's visit brilliant. I'll definitely be booking another golf weekend very soonππππ
Hotel seems nice, but the staff are not interested unless you're golfing.

The hotel was nice (and indeed the reception staff very helpful) but their approach to business in the fact they won't take a booking of around 30 rooms seems a little backward and totally unhelpful, I wouldn't advise staying unless you're a golfer as clearly that's all they are interested in putting you up!
My wedding

Having read a few reviews on here involving my wedding I would just like to give my opinions.
The food was ok. all be it no where near the quality we tasted when we were invited in to have a menu tasting. And items had changed without us being notified. So may be this should be addressed. Don't give a fantastic trial if it will not taste like that on the day. (Plus the groom's chicken ceasar salad contained no chicken haha)
I have noticed two reviews below from the same family and would like to add that the veg was not cold and was cooked nicely as we had asked it to be.
The reason one of the reviewers did not firstly receive a vegetarian meal is because she did not send back and RSVP with any food requirements on it. She asked about it 2 weeks before the wedding to which we told her it can't be done. My mother in law said she told her this, and yet she still complained once her food was brought out and asked for a different meal. No wonder it will have water in if you have to defrost and cook something that quickly! So I think getting on hawkstone back about this is wrong as they have done all we (as the bride and groom asked)
Yes I agree the young girls skirt was very short. But she was young, if they had a problem they should of said something to someone on the day, or to her - no body else had a problem haha.
I drank coke alot and I had no problem with it. But there was alot of guests (not only wedding) in the hotel. Bags don't last forever and sometimes problems happen. No biggy lol.
So down to a correct review. Richard (I think) was FANTASTIC! The day would NOT have run half as smoothly as it did if he wasn't there. Couldn't of thanked him enough. Brilliant service.
We had a lovely day and evening. Although I am very disappointed that our wedding topper was lost!! And whenever I have rang or mentioned it on Facebook I end up with a voicemail left that I can then never get in contact with whoever left it. And I'm almost certain that the new wedding coordinator did not like us very much haha. We begain We notice all the weddings that have been held in your venue being mentioned.. expect ours? Lol
We booked out wedding under the old contract. The new coordinator was adamant on leaving things out/charging extra for stuff/not planning things properly. This was very stressful for us during planning but then it may have been because we had a different contract to which she was now doing.
All in all not a bad experience and I would do my wedding all over again. I loved it!
Thanks to all involved x

It's fantastic to see Hawkstone returning to its former glory years, the new owner is investing heavily.
The tournament was great, my team enjoyed the day.
I have been visiting Hawkstone since I was a junior taking lessons from Mr Lyle, its nice to see someone loving the venue again.
Having visited with golfing groups there over the years, it's nice to see the hotel & resort returning to its glory years!
I will be definitely returning next year with some groups!!
Away Golfing Weekend

Despite its ad-hoc appearance, the refurbished hotel offers very good quality accommodation and service. My room was excellent and the new fittings, such as the digital shower, showed a considerable improvement from my previous visit (sone years ago). Our group were well catered for and our evening meal although small in quantity, was very well presented with attentive and quick service from the staff. Our golfing experience should be set against the background of a period of fairly wet weather which prevented the use of buggies. The Hawkstone course, on its sandy base played very well and for late September was in reasonable condition. The same cannot be said, however, for the Championship course which was close to being in an unplayable condition. The fairways were waterlogged which led to balls plugging and being lost. We had to declare all the bunkers GUR as they were either full of water or compacted and muddy. In total contrast the greens were well drained and in excellent condition. I appreciate that the greenkeepers could not get their equipment on the course. In hindsight, I would have expected the Pro shop to have put the course out of play and offered us another round on the Hawkstone.
The Championship course, with its series of lakes, presents a good golfing challenge and the two course package is well worth considering. I would hesitate to recommend it after any lengthy period of inclement weather. Two rounds of golf, bed, breakfast and evening meal for Β£120 represents excellent value for money and in fair weather would certainly return.
