This was the perfect hotel for a mini vacation with "the girls" We enjoyed the charm and class of the Hawthorn Hotel as well as the good food at The Tavern on the Green. We'll be booking another girls getaway here soon.

Room was clean and quiet & beds comfy. There were Notices doted around explaining refurbishments in progress which made allowances for.
Booking.com may need a review as it mentioned that breakfast included but cost £7 per person. Breakfast was ok but had to wait a while.

Had a lovely stay at the hotel on Saturday after attending a party there. Comfortable nights sleep followed by a nice breakfast. Cosy feel, friendly staff and great atmosphere. Would definitely stay again :-)
no complaints

I stayed with Hawthorn for 5 nights while visiting friends in Radcliffe, extremely friendly owner, very clean rooms with all you need for your stay which are cleaned daily and the cooked breakfast with cerial is a fantastic start to any day.
Poor nights stay in a basic, dirty and dated hotel with rude staff!!

On arrival at Hawthorn Hotel we were greeted by a young gentleman and taken to the bar area. This was very dark and dingy and in need of a bit of decorating and re-furb. We were asked if we wanted breakfast at an extra cost to which we said we would have it and then we were shocked to be told that we had to pay for our stay. When we asked if we could pay in the morning like most hotels we had stayed in accept he told us no. We had to pay now and only when we had paid he would give us the key to our room.
On entering our room which was at the front of the hotel we were firstly met with damp / mouldy smell. The room was very small, very dated and in need of a good dust and clean. The bedding looked like it had seen better days and the carpet was worn in places giving concern to a possible trip hazard. On entering the bathroom we got a further shock! The bathroom suite was like something from the 70's, thick dust on the skirting boards and toilet roll holder, torn and peeling back lino, dirty shower tray and a scaled up shower head and screen. The towels were very small, a dirty grey colour, rough and thread bare in places. If we had not paid and the fact that we were having to meet some friends at a local restaurant in less than hour we would have walked out and not stayed at the Hawthorn Hotel. On returning to our room very late at night there was a lot of noise in the corridor. A group of young men were continually going in and out of their rooms, slamming doors and talking to each other in the corridor. When my husband went outside our room and asked the young men to be quiet and have a bit of respect for other residents he was told to mind his own business and that they lived there! The mattress was very uncomfortable, you could feel the springs and it made a twangy noise every so often when you moved. Needless to say my husband and I had a very poor nights sleep!
In the morning when going into the restaurant area we were shocked to see how busy it was. There were young children running around, and quite a few people were sat in their dressing gowns having breakfast. We did think that the Hawthorn Hotel was being used for social housing. The waitress that served our breakfast and chatted to us for a while was very friendly and courteous. The breakfast was a very small portion, very greasy, bacon crispy and dried out and served on a cold chipped plate! While eating our breakfast we were approached by an elderly gentleman who asked if everything was ok. We said no and told him that we were unhappy and disgusted about the state of the room, the poor nights sleep we had had, noise from people we were told lived there and the poor breakfast. His answer was that he would look into our complaints and if we had thought it that bad then we shouldn't have stayed. We explained to him that we had paid on our arrival and had to rush to meet some friends, had we not of done this then we would of left and found somewhere else to stay after viewing our room. He then proceeded, very rudely to tell us to stop worrying and moaning as soon we would be leaving the hotel!
The only pleasant thing we encountered at the Hawthorn Hotel was the waitress who served our breakfast. We would not recommend staying here and needless to say will never be returning again!
