Helms delivered exactly as Trip Advisor reviews promised. Large room with separate lounge/kitchenette. Excellent location for central Victoria, Parking on site (a squeeze). Bed comfortable , All this and a reasonable rack rate!

Stayed here for 2 nights whilst holidaying from Australia. The staff were friendly and helpful at check in, explaining the parking, room location etc – there are 3 buildings here.
Parking car be a bit tight- you are given a voucher to display on your dashboard and if the carpark is full they can give you an overflow parking voucher for the street.
The hotel’s location is good, walking distance to attractions such as the parliament and harbor front area. There is also shops and supermarkets a few minutes away by car.
Our room was great, quite roomy with full cooking facilities, plus a full size fridge. We were able to cook some nice meals here, a welcome change whilst travelling, staying in hotels for 7 weeks. Lounge area with comfortable couch, 2 TV’s – 1 in lounge and 1 in bedroom, plus a little courtyard outside. The bed was high up but comfortable.The internet was excellent- our room had its own internet modem. There were 2 safes for valuables in the room, plus plenty of power points
The info guide book in the room was a great addition to help guests. The shower worked well
The building our room was located in had security card entry to gain access to the building.
On site in the main building was a guest laundry which was great - $2 wash and $2 dry – only 1 machine of each though, so have to time it when other guests not using it, which we did.
Overall a great stay, would stay at Helm’s Inn again and recommend to others.

Quaint hotel located within walking distance of the Empress Hotel, the Royal BC Museum , the waterfront/ marina and Beacon Hill Park. Perfect location. Hotel had a pleasant lobby area with seating. Room was very nice that included a small kitchen. This was out first trip to Victoria and Vancouver Island. We would definitely stay here again and recommend the hotel. Chris at the main desk was amiable and very helpful with suggestions and advice.

I had never been to Victoria before so when I decided to go, I wanted to stay someplace fairly central. After a little bit of research, I found Helm's Inn! You won't find the amenities here that you would in most hotels but you will find atmosphere, comfort, peace and great staff. The location is central but just far enough off the beaten track that you don't have the busyness of today's life. It takes you back to a sanctuary of yesteryear. The museum, Empress Hotel, marina, Parliament buildings, gardens and old downtown are all within a 10 - 15 block radius. You can catch a trolley in front of the Empress and take a tour.
My favourite place to stay in my travels.

Came to Victoria from Vancouver for a couple of nights and found this place was ideal - good location central to the harbour and town. Staff really friendly and room a decent size and spotlessly clean.
