Had a really lovely four day stay here. We were really impressed with Hensleigh. It was spotless and the way our rooms were serviced each day put many hotels to shame! Extras such as Biscuits, super toiletries in our rooms, plenty of seating in an area downstairs away from the bedroom in a bright conservatory. Plenty of Fossils to be viewed as well. Breakfasts were delicious and there was a very good range of top quality, locally sourced food. Easy parking outside for the car too. Would visit again and would recommend without hesitation.

Suggested by our friends, who we were visiting in Charmouth, we were not dissapointed.
Jim made us welcome from the start and nothing was too much trouble. Dawn's cooking was one of the best full English I've come across, and the lady who waited on us was very pleasant and charming, should have asked for her name!
Room was clean and tidy and had everything we wanted and did not have to request a thing.
We will certailny re book with Jim and Dawn when we are in the area again. We also would have no problems recommending Hensleigh House to one and all.

Having wanted for some time to explore the Jurassic coast, my wife and I arrived at Hensleigh House last week and stayed for four days. We also hoped to have a go at some fossil hunting. Having travelled quite a lot in recent years, we know that booking an hotel online is always a bit of a hit and miss affair. However, things were looking good as soon as we arrived, and we were pleasantly surprised to find an amply-sized car park with good space for each vehicle.
The owner met us at the door, and after a brief and friendly introduction, he showed us up to our room which was bright and cheerful, and we immediately felt at ease. The bed looked inviting and there was a feeling of freshness in the air. Indeed, the bed turned out to be extremely comfortable, as did the pillows, and we slept soundly.
Everything was there including tea-making facilities, and there was no skimping on the little things such as the ample number of milk capsules, and biscuits.
The generosity extended to the breakfast, with a large selection of cereals, yoghurts, local jams etc. One could order from a very comprehensive cooked breakfast menu, even including delicious fresh kippers which my wife enjoyed on two separate occasions. Plentiful supplies of coffee and toast were provided, with the friendly staff always ensuring we had enough of everything...
As to the location itself, Hensleigh House could hardly be better positioned, situated as it is, just a short walk to the seashore. The car could be left at the house so there was no need to pay car parking fees at the beach.
Finally, to the owner and his wife. We felt that they put a lot of effort into making their guests feel at home. The house is spotlessly clean, as are the rooms and furnishings. One didn't feel oppressed by over-zealous cordiality, but at the same time, Jim and his wife Dawn made us feel welcome. When we asked about fossils, we had a very nice conversation one evening, when Jim was able to advise us, as well as showing us his impressive collection. Overall, I would say that the balance was exactly right. We really enjoyed our stay, and highly recommend Hensleigh House.

We had a family suite which was light, clean, well appointed and welcoming. Breakfast was excellent. Hotel is located only a few minutes easy walk from the famous fossil beaches [which have so much more to offer than just fossils] or the village. Definitely recommend.

We had a pleasant stay in a great interesting location, but the accomodation was a little bland. With minor damage to paint and work poor finishing to feature wall paper. A large carparking area is a benifit. I disliked the lean to conservatory. Having a bit of an 'old folks home' fell to it.
Our food was well cooked, good portions and prompt service.
