Enjoyable 20th Anniversary Celebration

We ended up staying here after waiting too long in the season to make reservations, but we did not leave disappointed. This is a beautiful property and the owners are very friendly and focused on providing a comfortable and relaxing stay for their guests. We stayed in the Serenity Room which we found very comfortable and clean. It was a short walk from the main lodge but we tended to drive because the weather was a little rainy in the evenings. The highlight of the stay was the 5 course dinner at the Redbook Inn. We did the wine pairing with each course. A nice touch was the personalized note on our menus that said Happy Anniversary. The staff was knowledgeable, friendly and very professional. Our only disappointment had nothing to do with the inn. We tried to go to Harpers Ferry on Saturday to hike and was never able to find any parking. The place was a literal zoo. I would recommend skipping breakfast and going early to Harpers Ferry, otherwise you are better off visiting the many wineries in Loudoun County. I would recommend staying here for a romantic and relaxing stay.
Relaxing Getaway with Amazing Spa

I came to the Hillbrook Inn to have a relaxing, quiet getaway alone before my second child arrived, and I got the exactly what I needed. The scenery and view from the Fall Cottage is idyllic and the room is cozy and comfortable. The buildings and grounds are incredibly beautiful, and you feel relaxed as soon as you arrive. The staff is amazing and goes above and beyond to ensure your stay is to your liking. The food is a delicious experience in itself. While there I had a prenatal massage with Deb, which is hands-down the best massage I've ever had. I had such a great experience I plan to come back with my husband, and I also want to send my parents here for their anniversary.
Beautiful Accommodations

We recently spent two nights at the Hawthorne House of Hillbrook Inn with our dearest friends. We had a wonderful time. The fireplace in the bedroom was a cozy joy on the chilly days and nights we were there. The common rooms of the house gave us many options to sit and visit and catch up with our friends whom we had not been able to see for nearly a year. Breakfast was included and the two course menu each day was delicious and new. We only had dinner reservations there one evening. The 5 course dinner was delicious, but at $79.50 per person was a bit higher than our retiree budgets to afford both nights. We definitely will go back again and would choose Hawthorne House as our first choice there.
Nice Short Stay and a Wonderful Facility

Hillbrook Inn – Sunset Suite at the Farmhouse
I was looking for a nice BnB for a short mid-week two-night getaway and discovered the Hillbrook Inn located a short distance outside Charles Town, WV. Because of my wife’s ambulatory limitations, we needed a room on the first floor preferably with full accessibility or at least a walk-in shower. Fortunately, the Hillbrook Inn had an available suite, appropriately equipped, in their Farmhouse facility located a few miles from the inn.
We arrived at the inn in late afternoon and I checked in while my wife waited in the car. I was greeted by Andy, a personable young man, who took me on a tour showing me where to park and the various routes my wife could take to the dining room (for breakfast) minimizing steps and other difficulties.
The inn, itself, is an interesting building decorated wonderfully and situated on a beautiful piece of property well off the main road. Check out the facilities and see pictures on their web page.
The Farmhouse is a large house totally refurbished to suit its current usage with three suites (2 upstairs, 1 on the first floor). There is a ramp to the rear entrance and the house has good security features. A kitchen with microwave and refrigerator for guest use is supplied with bottled water, granola bars and other treats. Each day fresh baked cookies miraculously appeared for our enjoyment.
Our suite, the Sunset Suite, comprised two rooms: a living room with TV, sofa, desk, a high table with two chairs and a small table equipped with a coffee maker and all the “fixin’s;” a large bedroom with king bed, TV and REMOTE CONTROLLED FIREPLACE and a large beautiful bathroom with walk-in shower and dual vanity sinks. Everything was immaculate, comfortable and very pleasant.
Staying at the Farmhouse requires driving to the main building for breakfast which is not a problem and well worth the effort. The first morning we had a wonderful yogurt parfait as our first course and a delicious dish of poached egg on home fries with sausage and sautéed veggies along with juice and coffee. The second morning, we started off with banana oatmeal and finished with a baked egg and spinach over a carrot puree with sides of bacon and cheesy grits (see pics). We had a different waitress each day and both were delightful.
In summary, a wonderful BnB in a beautiful part of West Virginia less than two hours from the Baltimore-Washington area. Charles Town, Shepherdstown and Martinsburg, WV as well as Winchester, VA are all within 30-40 minutes. And, if you can catch one of the mid-week special rates, the Hillbook Inn is a bargain.
Intimate, Cozy retreat at Hillbrook Inn & Spa

The Hillbrook Inn & Spa is located near Harper's Ferry on 18 acres of solitude. The cottages are warm and cozy. The staff is attentive and efficient. The food was wonderful, as were the signature massages. Geese, deer, foxes, and a babbling stream provided a perfect setting for a midweek get away.
