Holiday Inn Express is usually our hotel of choice. This location was a good one for shopping Mag mile, restaurants, even a walk to Navy Pier. On our three-night stay we found our room small but clean, mattress comfortable, great pillows, staff very helpful and friendly. My only disappointment was the breakfast. For such large hotel (16 floors) I suppose that fresh made oatmeal and scrambled eggs would be hard. We settled for instant oatmeal and premade cold egg turnovers.The lines were very long, one four-slot toaster was a problem for some. Day three we went out to breakfast.

Located on the site of the original Cass Hotel which was opened in 1925, this is a nice hotel. Because the hotel is so old, the rooms are really small compared to most American hotels. They would fit nicely in Japan. The WiFi worked great and the staff was friendly. The complimentary breakfast was typical for Holiday Inn Express.

First, you are never going to find a decent sized hotel room in Chicago without paying a suite price. It’s just the way the buildings were built back in the day. These room were clean and updated. Only thing lacking was a mini fridge. Free breakfast in the morning had many options & was fresh. Coffee was really good. All staff we ran into were friendly. We had the hotel keep our bags after checkout while we shopped downtown. A nice touch.

My wife and I stayed here two nights over Labor Day weekend 2017. The location is awesome because there's a parking garage right next door and it's right in the middle of everything. The free breakfast was great, but the space they have for it is very tiny. Our room was tiny as well but that's not something we care that much about. The two tiny elevators are a little inconvenient, but not a huge problem. We would stay there again.
Tip: Don't buy parking through the hotel. Buy it through a parking app/website.

My 81 year old mother & I stayed 5 nights while visiting Chicago. HIE is I'm the Hotel Cass built in the 1920's. Smaller than the usual HIE rooms but that should be expected since it's a landmark.
Absolutely wonderful staff, they actually seem to love their jobs! Very helpful with needs of my mother. Comfortable beds, clean and just a great environment. Close to great food, attractions and shopping. I definitely recommend this hotel.
