Right at the center of El Paso (walking distance). Room is okay. Bathtub with shower is a bit awkward. The room itself is large. Unfortunately it was a bit noisy right at the highway. Service and breakfast were okay and good,

Holiday Inn Express El Paso - Central is a downtown hotel close to public transportation. I took the free SunMetro 4 bus from the Amtrak station but I could have walked the half-mile distance. The hotel is very clean with an excellent, friendly staff. Comfortable bed. Good lighting. Within three blocks to other SunMetro bus stops. Bus 10 took me directly to the University of Texas at El Paso. Day pass is $3.50. Senior fare is 30 cents a ride. The hotel had an excellent in-house self-serve breakfast. I would have preferred a quieter room facing away from the freeway

Good sized very clean rooms , very comfortable beds, buffet breakfast has all you need to start the day .
Reception staff were pleasant and sorted us out.
Location was good for us so what else do you need ?

After arrival, my first impression of the Holiday Inn Express El Paso - Central was favorable. The hotel looked nice from the outside and the staff member at reception was welcoming. I am a light sleeper, so I asked for a quiet room. The member of staff frowned and told me the hotel was quite full and he only had room 301 available. He offered me ear plugs and that should have been a warning. Arriving in the room, I found out that this room is directly above the Interstate 10, a road where there is heavy traffic 24/7. Especially the motorcycles traveling on the interstate could be heard all night, Apart from the outside noise, there also is a lot of noise coming from the toilet and the showers in my room and the adjacent ones. Flushing the toilet created a noise comparable to a jet engine starting. Although the beds in the room were good, this meant that I didn't sleep well. And a good nights sleep is a very important requirement for booking a hotel room. I have slept in hotels near busy roads before. Only this January, I spent five nights in the Novotel Paddington in London. Just below my room was Paddington station and trains were leaving that station every couple of minutes. On the other side, there was the London Western Approach Ring road, also a very congested road with all night traffic. But because of great insulation of the hotel/room, I didn't hear a thing from the outside and slept like a baby. The Holiday Inn Express El Paso has very poor insulation. It has a nice pool with sun desk, but also directly adjacent to the interstate, so very noisy as well. The (around 48) rooms at the back of the hotel should only be rented out for a very reduced rate to people who will sleep through anything. The room was clean and large enough. Not many drawers for storing clothes. A small problem with a missing hook on the inside of the bathroom door was quickly fixed by maintenance. And the included breakfast was a good one. There is WiFi, but throughout the hotel the signal is extremely weak. I have stayed in hundreds hotels all over the world, but have never encountered a signal as weak as this, even in hotels in the middle of the jungle in Africa and Asia. I am used to the very powerful internet in Europe, so the weaker connections in the USA always are a bit disappointing. But this was far below average even for the States. Even the desktops in the lobby were unable to download the most simple internet page. Basically, there is no usable internet in this hotel and you have to travel to the Starbucks if you want to send or receive a mail. Because of the friendly staff, clean rooms and the central location, I decided not to give this hotel a poor review. But unfortunately I can not recommend this hotel either, until it this hotel decode to invest in proper insulation and upgrading the poor internet.

The hotel is old, but the room was great, quite confortable, so was everything else and the breakfast is ok as well. The location is a very El Paso centric.
I usually book by the best offer at the moment, but I´d choose this hotel again and I recommend this place!
