This area was hit by the high waters etc. of Harvey earlier in the week. They opened their doors to rescuers and to those displaced. It did my heart good to see how others can help out during tragic events. The rooms were nice and clean and the beds were awesome! I will recommend this hotel.....for sure!

This is our preferred resting spot after M. D. Anderson Cancer Center visit. The hotel is convenient to our visit and the staff is friendly and accommodating. The rooms are spacious, clean, relaxing and quiet.

I was here withh a group, for work. We had our conference during the day, and truly enjoyed the great service we recieved in the evening at the bar AND RESTURAUNT.
The food and beverage manager was incredible, he came out in the evening with comp food.
The best part of my stay was the clean rooms, wonderful staff, and the new comfy beds

We visited this hotel as part of a family reunion group during the weekend of June 23-25th. I suspect this is a great place to stay under normal circumstances, but the staff here were woefully unprepared for the large group of people who assembled there during that weekend. It turned out that there were 2 family reunion groups booked for the weekend.
One of the elevators stopped working and remained out of service the entire weekend. (Not a good thing with the number of the people needing to ride.) Someone spilled syrup in the elevator and although I reported it to the desk staff, the floor remained sticky until the syrup was basically tracked away.
Breakfast service was a disaster...the staff were clearly unprepared for the large groups to whom the hotel offered 2 free breakfast buffets per room. Saturday morning presented long waits for food and silverware. Sunday was worse, as they apparently completely ran out of food! The bright star in all of this was the server HECTOR, who despite frustrated guests, did his job with dignity and grace. He was apologetic for all the things he couldn't fix and went well above and beyond to appease the guests.
Apparently the hotel had just gotten new beds! The bed was great...once you got into it. The beds are so tall that each room should have a step stool present; the same tall beds were in every room, including the accessible rooms. There were many elderly family members and these ultra high beds presented a problem for most.
The housekeeping staff seemed to have performed well under pressure (I heard of no issues among the group I was in.)
Hopefully this review will be useful in planning for future large group events. Someone should have been called in to fix that broken elevator. You should assume that everyone will take advantage of free breakfast offers, and plan and staff accordingly. Hire some contract help, do whatever you need to do to make it work!

Not so pleased on this stay. I am a Spire member and have received no consideration. The tv sucks and the Internet also sucks. If you stay a lot at HIG I would recommend staying at the Staybridge Suites just around the corner.
