We were here on Saturday night for my partners works Christmas party,we didn't stay overnight as we live not too far away,the party itself was in one of the event rooms that had its own bar,the food that was served was ok but nothing special.
The bar although it was small and there was only 2 people serving one of which was training and it was her first night worked very well and there was never much of a wait to get served.
All of the staff were very friendly and helpful and everyone had a good night.

I visited here on the 9th of October ... I have stayed here numerous times and have always found the staff very good and the hotel is always clean and presentable , the rooms have been refurbished so all new fittings and tvs etc
Great range of drinks in the bar , good food or there is lots of places to eat in Garforth
a hearty breakfast in the morning oooh yes there's a gym and a pool too ....

My wife and I stayed for three nights, courtesy of a coach trip from a wide South East catchment area to the York area. After booking that I looked at the reviews and my heart sank!
As it happened, we were *very* pleasantly surprised by the courtesy shown by all the members of staff (especially but not confined to) the bar and restaurant staff, by the cleanliness of our room, and by the selection of dishes offered at dinner and breakfast. Having travelled widely from the Uk to 4 and 5 star hotels in 13 countries in Europe, the States, Canada and Souther Africa as well as in the UK for work I am NOT by any means easily satisfied but this hotel at least matches most and exceeds many.
All in all, a very good experience. It's difficult to reconcile our experience with some of the recent negative reviews. There is a possible reason but I don't think it necessary to spell it out!

stayed at the hotel for three days.lovely breakfast and good evening meal.the staff were very hard working and very helpful.thank you for telling us how to get the bus to leeds.the staff are excellent and a credit to holiday inn.Thank you to you all.

I booked this room via the ihg website as a platinum member, i always request a room close to lift or reception. I checked in at midnight after a 4 hour drive from London only to be given a room almost the furthest away from reception. When i called reception regarding this i was told it was because i checked in late. Which is rubbish, i booked my room a week in advance my ihg profile clearly states my room preference and every other ihg hotel can accommodate this regardless of what time i check in. Given the time and how tired i was i didn't want to change the room. In the morning i spoke to a lady on reception and demanded my room was changed for the second night which it was. The room was much closer to reception but a much smaller.
The wifi, or the lack of wifi which was very frustrating, i was given login details at reception for the wifi i have 3 devices and when i connected i was not asked for any login details. Then the speed was very very slow, sometime non existent. I'm an IT Consultant and did a speed test on the wifi and did so at three different locations in the hotel including reception and the best speed was 3mb which in this day and age is absolutely appalling and the hotel should be embarrassed offering this to guests. To make it worse when i checked in i was givena note saying the WiFi had recently been upgraded, i hate to think what it was prior to the upgrade.
On my second night i asked in reception if there was anything they could do, the lady gave me login details, i then explained and showed her there was no where to enter the login details. She then just brushed me off.
I've read some of the reviews on here and a response from Ms Scott the hotel manager 4 weeks ago acknowledged an issue with the wifi and said it would be "resolved in the next few days" well 4 weeks later it's not. So Ms Scott how long do you need? Not that i intend to stay here again, but I'm sure future guest would like to know and whatever you respond i just hope this time you deliver on your promise.
There is also no mobile data signal in the hotel so you cannot even use your mobile data to access the internet. Therefore if you're after internet this is not hotel you should book
So to sum up if you want a very long walk to your room carrying your bags, no internet through wifi or mobile phone, staff that just don't care and a hotel manager who makes false promises then this is the perfect hotel for you.
