So excited to go to New Orleans. My husband booked a room on Nov 1 for our trip on Nov 11th. We got our rental car and headed to the hotel. We were staying one night so we could spend 2 days in New Orleans. Got to the hotel around 12:30 to see if we could check in early, handed our confirmation number to the front desk and they said we don’t have a room, it was canceled on Nov 4th? What .... why, they said our credit card was invalid, so we gave him the same credit card, he said still invalid. Well we were shocked. No rooms available, convention in town so no other rooms available at other hotels. Had to leave town to head on to Slidell for the rest of our trip to Florida. We called our credit card provider and the card is valid , they said the hotel cancelled our reservation on Nov 4th. We phoned to complain to Holiday Inn and they said they would look into it and call us back in 3 days.... still waiting.... so how can a confirmation be made if my card is so called invalid..... wouldn’t it decline at the time of booking? Disgusted with Holiday Inn and their service. This is the first time we booked using the IHG directly....Very disappointed and question ever booking with them again!

The Holiday Inn in Gretna is an older property with dated color schemes in the rooms. It appears that it was once a very popular hotel a few decades ago. It is still a very population destination place when visiting New Orleans. The prices are far better than staying in the Quarter with easy access to downtown from the hotel. Normally I would rate the facility as "average" but where the hotel makes up for the property is the great service that they offer to their customers. The front desk ladies are exceptional in service and attentive. One lady has the uncanny ability to remember the names of returning customers even after a long absence. The kitchen service also seems to go the extra mile to make their customers feel comfortable and welcome. I was also pleased that they recently added a nice exercise room to the property.
Helpful hints. When walking to the front entrance from the parking area, don't be surprised if water drips on you from condensation that comes from the air conditioners on the upper floor. The front entrance also seems to have a bench for smokers. Ask for a room away from the highway to minimize outside noise. Also, unless you need an adjourning room, ask for a room without the adjourning door, also to minimize noise between the rooms. Always check the refrigerator to make sure it is empty and look around the furniture for cleanliness.
Other than that, I would recommend this hotel for singles and couples alike. Not overly fancy, but very good service.

I enjoyed this hotel for our stay. The beds were very firm, which I am not used to, but the pillows and bedding were great. The shower was nice. The area with the toilet was a little small but the sink area had plenty of room. They had a Keurig, which was a surprise. Nice size fridge and closet and dresser. Nice size TV and desk. Took my kids (young adults) to NOLA for the first time during Halloween and they really enjoyed it. The staff was super nice and it was very clean. We were disappointed however that the breakfast isn't included and it is $9.95 a person and if you want juice, it's more.

A hotel on the Westbank seemed like a good idea , a lot more reasonable than anything decent in the French Quarter. Getting in an out of the city was a drag, tons of traffic on the bridge on weekends, taking the ferry to get across might be a good alternative. First impression was pretty good , recently updated rooms were pretty nice. The problem with this hotel is the noise level. It's sitting on top of a very busy overpass that goes non stop through the night as well. As we didn't sleep at all the first night we asked to be moved to the opposite site of the hotel but we were told that the hotel was fully booked during our stay. Funny that , we could buy a room at Hotels.com for quite a bit cheaper than what we paid. !

Staff was very friendly. Mohammad in the round house was excellent, very attentive. The park and stay for the cruise was easy to use. It is. $15 minimum if you are only traveling in a party of 2. Overall great stay!
