My Wife and I both have been very impressed with the quality of staff and service at this hotel,we can genuinely compare the facilities of the Celtic manor with this hotel with regard to the breakfast choices and standard of presentation and quality,and staff,especially Rachael who took us to our table.
Our room was clean and in excellent condition, hope the refit coming soon will not change our review as we will come back again

I don't know why I am so loyal to the IHG brand when they have places like this that are in huge need of modernisation so if you would like to know what a 1970's hotel room look like stay here.

Booked a double room and received confirmation for such only to receive, walked into room and had twin beds! Preference is a room away from the lift and on a high floor. no idea if there is a lift, but room was the closest to reception and on the ground floor. Luckily I did manage a good nights sleep though.

Room and bathroom needs updating. Considering what I paid, very disappointed with the standard of the furniture in the room. I have checked out of better rooms!

Room was relatively clean, although there was a dirty plastic cup on the floor from some previous resident.

The highlight of the room is the TV which has loads of sky channels.

Great Holiday Inn loads free parking, welcoming reception and lovely rooms (Exec Rooms best) Small warm pool and gym quiet had the pool to our self. Bar and restaurant area lovely quiet and good food and drinks. The best thing is the staff they really are helpful and thoughtful for your needs and are all appear to enjoy working here. Would recommend this Holiday Inn and will stay again.

Good for a stop over outside of Cardiff

I was pleasantly surprised at this hotel. Reviews are not great on here but I found it did the job for what we needed it for. We stayed here whilst attending the Boxing in Cardiff. there were a group of us so the taxi prices to the city weren't bad once split between us all. The bar and food were both nice. The hotel corridor isn't very nice, a bit run down looking and carpets could do with being replaced, but we had an executive room and it was large, nice and clean and had everything we needed. I would stay here again if I was in Newport. Reception staff were lovely. some of the bar/waiting staff could have been a bit nicer.

Outstanding care

I have just got back from 2 nights at this hotel. On arrival in the evening we went for food in the bar, my 11yr old son was feeling really rough with a cold. The barman noticed and insisted he make him a “special drink” of honey and lemon which was kind. The next day my son had worsened so I asked staff where nearest pharmacy was, they came back with printed directions and continually asked how he was. The cleaner had also noticed and bought extra pillows and duvets to make him comfortable. That night we decided to order room service and they insisted there was no charge and asked again how he was. Finally next morning the sickness kicked in and they provided us with a bucket and industrial roll of tissue for the journey home in case! We would like to thank all the staff who made our disappointing trip as positive as possible and for showing they genuinely cared. We will be returning.
